“They’ll deliver it tomorrow. It’s already leased. You’ll be her next-door neighbor. It’s furnished and everything.”
“Perfect,” I replied with a half-smile. “I’ll be moving in soon. Too bad the neighbors are a bit touchy.”
Bob laughed, but without humor.
“You’re crazy.”
“Not crazy, Bob. Calculating,” I put the key in my jacket pocket and started walking. “Swap with Ícaro. I’m going up now.”
“Good luck, boss,” he said, but the tone was more like “good death.”
I ignored it.
I crossed the building entrance. The key worked perfectly, and I dragged the door closed again. The elevator went up slowly. When it reached her floor, the hallway was empty.
