“Do we have confirmation? Did his empire fall?”
Jason hesitated. His hands were clenched at his sides, and his lips pressed into a tight line. “That’s the problem,” he finally said. “The bombs didn’t go off.”
I blinked. “What?”
He shifted uncomfortably, avoiding my gaze. “They didn’t detonate. None of them.”
I stepped forward, my tone rising. “What do you mean the bombs didn’t go off?”
Jason finally looked at me, eyes wide. “I mean… nothing happened, Boss. We planted them. We timed them. But they didn’t go off. Not the mansion, not the safe house, nothing.”
