But she had no way to fight back. The dog was too large, and it toyed with her effortlessly. Then it reared up on its hind legs, and Giana lost her footing and fell. In the instant before she hit the ground, a flash of red caught the corner of her eye. A thud and a crack rang out in quick succession. The first sound came from Giana landing. I stood up to follow him, but I stumbled and fell back on the chair, my vision a bit hazy. But it quickly cleared up.
