PROBABLY IF THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE DIFFERENT

PROBABLY IF THE CIRCUMSTANCES WERE DIFFERENT

Fayth Fernandes
Celeste knew both happiness and sadness, but she had never lost hope, until the time when she lost her dad and her world came crashing down. What was the point of hoping and wishing, when everything she wished for would slip away right from her hands, like water running down her fingers? Pain and depression in itself are unbearable, but what would happen to a person if they have to deal with financial stress too? Celeste had to juggle not only schoolwork but also juggle three different jobs. With great difficulty, she was able to finish her bachelor's, and now she was finally able to get into her dream university for her master's. All this while she thought being far away from home would somehow take her troubles away too, but that wasn't the case. She had a looming 1-year student loan and was barely getting by with a full-time degree. And that's when she was forced to do something that she didn't really think she would have to do. She found herself browsing through what it would take to be a sugar baby and was mortified that it required the sugar baby to have consensual sex and her graysexual ass could never. She was saved from the nightmare when she met a mysterious rich boy/man who was willing to act as her sugar daddy, well not really. Gabrielle a boy of just 23, and an owner of a multi-millionaire company. He had money and everything nice right at his feet. But just like Celeste, he was a broken boy too, craving for a family that was already 6 feet under the ground. And who knew that both of them would find each other and maybe just maybe they would find what they lost all hope for.

Why the Top Scorer Kept Failing

Why the Top Scorer Kept Failing

I'm on track to be a top student, but I end up taking the SAT twice. The first time, I score high enough to get into Westbridge University. The second time, my score qualifies me for Northfield University. Each time, I score over 1500. Yet when the admissions teams see my name, not a single school admits me. At first, I think it must be some kind of background check, certain they've found something in my record. But my parents are honest, hardworking people. They've never broken the law. They wouldn't even harm a fly. So I try a third time. My SAT score is 1590, and my GPA is still perfect. This time, I apply to Crestwood University, thinking I finally have it in the bag. The Crestwood University admissions officer arrives full of cheer, but the moment he sees my name, he freezes, immediately realizing there is no way I will be accepted. I rack my brain, trying to figure out what is wrong with my name. Why does seeing it make every school hesitate, even though my scores are perfect?

Why Panic When It's Too Late?

Why Panic When It's Too Late?

Nadine Sullivan doesn't come home to have dinner with me on my birthday. Instead, she transfers 100 dollars to me and sends me a text, saying, "I love you." Coincidentally, a resident doctor at her hospital updates his social media with a photo. It's a screenshot of her transferring 10,000 dollars to him. She's also texted him, "I love you to the moon and back." I don't throw a tantrum or kick up a fuss. All I do is leave the city without hesitation. The first day after my departure, I hear that Nadine is unfazed. She says, "He'll be back after a few days." The first month after my departure, Nadine calls me. "I'll transfer 100 thousand dollars to you, alright? Can you come back now?" I've never wanted her money, though.

I Was Written to Be His Forgotten Wife

I Was Written to Be His Forgotten Wife

I was the side character, the one destined to be neglected, forgotten, and never chosen. In the novel’s story, I was merely a background existence—the woman fated to marry the male lead, yet never once receive his love. The wife who shared his name but never his attention. Salvatore Mancini. The perfect male lead. Cold, powerful, and admired by everyone. Except me. Because in this story, his heart already belonged to someone else. When I first realized I had transmigrated into this novel, I thought I could change my fate. I tried to avoid the original scenes, tried to step away from the plot. But every time I tried to change something…I returned to the same place. The same moment, the same outcome. As if the unseen author of this story was reminding me again and again: You are only a puppet, and puppets don’t decide their roles. So I stopped resisting. If the story wanted me to be the neglected wife, then I would simply live quietly and let the plot run its course. That was my plan. Until one night, when I finally looked at the man and said casually— “Tell me something, Mr. Mancini. Aren’t you supposed to be my husband?” His cold eyes narrowed slightly, but I simply leaned back and smiled. “Then fulfill your role properly. Let’s see… what kind of man the great Salvatore Mancini is.” For the first time since our marriage he actually looked at me, not through me. At me. I didn’t know what changed after that, but from that night onward. Even when he looked at me with clear irritation. Salvatore Mancini began appearing around me more and more. Which left me with a very unsettling thought. The plot…It didn’t change, right?

Was the Baby Why You Called It Off?

Was the Baby Why You Called It Off?

After an unexpected pregnancy, Silas Shaw, who had always avoided the topic of marriage, suddenly proposed to me. Overjoyed, I readily accepted. However, on the day of the wedding, I stumbled upon an unexpected conversation between him and his friends. "Are you really going to marry Chaldene just because of your child with Nora?" one of them asked. Silas was visibly irritated and full of disdain as he responded, "It's all because of my mother. She kept saying that Nora's family background wasn't good enough.” "If it weren't to give my child with Nora a better status, why on earth would I marry Chaldene?” "You have no idea how boring a woman like her is in bed. I got tired of her after sleeping with her twice."
