Marriage First, Mate Second
my husband says, surveying the room, “How did you make crabcakes and shrimp cocktail so quickly?”
I would love to tell my husband that I discovered a hidden talent for creating hors d'oeuvres, but I have never lied to him before so I’m not starting now.
“I actually didn’t,” I admit, taking a crabake from a passing waiter, “I got them from the supermarket and heated up the crab cakes they made. The shrimp cocktail was even easier. It was already made. I just pulled open the package and put them out.”
“And the caviar was easy,” my mate replies with a chuckle, “Because you just opened the jar, and served it with crackers instead of blini.”
