Thorne shifted his stance, ready to intervene if something snapped. “Yeah,” he muttered under his breath, “this is definitely above my paygrade.” I didn’t look at him, I kept my eyes on Liam. “Hold on,” I whispered. “Killian will come back with something… anything to bring you out of this misery.” “Thorne,” I said quietly. “Yeah?” “Get ready.” “Ready for what?” Thorne asked, already grinning like he expected entertainment. “To die at his hand once Killian comes back with the cure,” I replied, matching his grin because if I didn’t laugh, I’d probably scream.

He had one in his hand, reading it as he tapped the toe of his shoe on the floor. “Grab a couple.” Riley glared at me and snapped the book shut. “No.” “Riley, I’m going to be at work a lot. So even if you come to the pack house, stay home, or get a job, you’ll need something. I saw the one book you had that looks like it’s been read more times than the spin could handle. Choose some. I don’t actually own a TV.” He looked at the shelves. “Why no TV?”

“But I couldn’t lose you.” Tears burned hot behind my eyes, fury and fear tangling until I couldn’t tell which hurt worse. “You already did,” I whispered. Silence stretched between us, heavy with everything unsaid. Casey cleared her throat softly from behind us. “We need to talk about what comes next.” I turned on her. “What comes next is answers.” She nodded. “Fair.” Torin shifted closer, not touching, but close enough that I felt the heat of him. “Lucien isn’t done,” he said. “And neither are we.”

Because it felt like all of a sudden, there isn’t any good person willing to help without having any plans for money extortion or taking the kid away when Zelia and her husband are used to him. I took a peek at my watch, seeing the time that I had given Riley had expired and I was serious about it when I had told her that she would find me at her place if she doesn’t come now. I don’t care about the traffic that I will meet while going there, or how I am trying to invade her privacy. Deep in thoughts, I didn’t even hear when the door had opened until I heard her voice. “Do you really have to keep going on to this extend?” Riley asked, her voice showing how irritated she sounded.

I had not even accepted to be his girlfriend, although I never denied that I didn't want to be. But Riley talking about me with someone I didn't know was strange. "We are here," George said, and I stepped out of the door first before Riley did. "Hey, it'll get out eventually. It's not like it's something you can keep in. Besides, I did it for his sake so he wouldn't hit on you and get a black eye in return. Thorne is aggressive and possessive when it comes to you, you know that." Riley explained as she jogged to meet me.

She rolled on top of him, twisting it back. Caitlin then kicked him hard, right in the groin. He slumped over, on the ground beside her, finished. But she wasn’t done. He had summoned her rage, and that was not something she could easily suppress. She jumped to her feet, still indignant, and kicked him again, hard in the stomach. “Caitlin!” yelled Aiden. But she could barely hear him. She walked over slowly and placed her foot on Cain’s throat, and kept it firmly planted there. He couldn’t breathe. But she didn’t care. She felt the rage overcome her in waves, and wanted to stop, but knew that she could not.

I apologize if it took me a while to post the final chapters. As you know, endings are always bittersweet, but that's the final chapter of this book. Next novel in this series would be Kai and Berenice's story. You'll see more of Klaus and Rylee in that book as it unfolds, the twins and Rylee's dad. I'm still in the middle of putting the story together but I hope to have it signed before this month ends. The title of Kai and Berenice's story is My Gangster Babysitter. I'll be updating the progress of the plotting in my socmed accounts.
