I take a deep breath, pinching the bridge of my nose, and suddenly my phone rings. “What do you have?” I ask as soon as I answer the phone. “Turner received several calls today from a burner,” Travis says, and I shake my head. “I tried tracing the burner but no luck, but I can tell you Turner’s phone was on until a few minutes before you called me,” Travis adds. “Fuck, so his phone is a fucking dead end?” I ask, and Travis stays in silence for a few seconds as he types away on his keyboard. I can hear it in the background.

Fuck! I nodded, swallowed. "Callie Turner called me today." Tali laughed in my face. "She died years ago, Turo. No way she called you today." I watched her steadily. Waited for the truth of my statement to land. Tali shook her head. Her brow was low, her nostrils flared. Red dusted her cheeks as she spoke. Her voice was a low growling snarl. "No. She's dead. I checked her myself after the fire fight. She was gone. She's dead and not coming back. Unless she was communing with the devil and he made her a vampire of some kind, she's dead." She sliced her hand through the air.

The security guards run over to him and several of the women in the room before they all turn to me with scared looks on their faces and Beta Turner says quietly, “He’s dead. He has lost too much blood.” With fear in their eyes, everyone quickly leaves the room except for the security guards who pick up his body and take it outside. Beta Turner stays behind to find out what I want done with him. He asks with concern in his voice, “Do you want him to be buried in the graveyard or burned down by the river?”

Turner said. It all happened too quickly. Gary, who was standing on the other side of Turner, was suddenly right by his side, and his claws were in his chest. "Gary," Turner said, shocked. "You will never use anyone else for your evil plans,' Gary growled. Turner placed his hand on Gary's "That's what you don't understand. Norman and I were not the ones that came up with this plan," Turner said, and then I could see the life leave his body. "What do you mean?" Gary asked, but it was too late. Turner was already dead.

She didn't flinch when she looked at him though and the hope that surged through him could have powered a city. "Are they dead?" she asked, quietly stepping up to the two Weres. She was pale as a ghost and trembling, but she kept her voice steady. "No. They're all still alive." Turner replied, stepping over to one. He knelt down and began rifling through the unconscious man's pockets. Jackson did the same to another man, but found nothing on his identity but a tattoo of a phoenix. He'd look it up later. Dr. Turner finally pulled out a piece of paper from the last man's pocket. The paper shook in his hand, and Jackson knew it wasn't from the wind.

"Forget about him. He'll be driving, and we'll be in the back doing our thing. If that's not exciting enough for you, I'll tell him to pull over so he can join in…" "What are you talking about?" I hissed, covering his mouth. Truckers—especially the long-haul guys—had a habit of talking dirty to pass the time, but I couldn't believe he was saying such things about me. I was mortified.
