I snapped at him. My gaze fell upon the clock; time was past 11 PM. “Jesus Christ!” I exclaimed in my mind, “This man is going to implicate me some day. What is his intention of visiting me at this ungodly hour?” He said, “Your husband is supposed to be with you now, but for ill fate. A few weeks ago he almost passed on. All this simply tells you that your stay in this marriage is numbered. If I were you, I would plot my way to the top of power in the Fanny Group and stop behaving like a kid.”

“I’m busy you know.” Now that I thought of it, I wondered where Sofia was. The last time I checked, which was about five months after our divorce, I had seen articles on their sudden breakup. “I know I was the worst husband to you and am truly sorry for everything I did,” He began. “You should have never married a cheating scumbag like me, I know that. He looked disheveled, like he couldn’t sleep, just like me. I felt pity for him for a split second; he didn’t deserve this. None of us did, if we are being honest. Time says six-thirty, I can come back home at eight o'clock. But if even I run a mile, I could not think of anything else. It does not leave my mind. "Excuse me?" “My husband,” I retorted, my voice slightly broken. “He beats me almost all the time. I just got out of the hospital. And to top it all off, my best friend is sleeping with him. So, if you’re one of those cocky lawyers who thinks they own the place, don’t waste my time.” A silence fell. Then his tone softened, losing all its malice.
