Chaotic Obsession
Set the food on the counter, handed her the flowers awkwardly—she looked down at them like they were gold—and then crouched by the couch where John was now peeking over the back of it with wide, curious eyes.
“Hey, little man,” Johnny said.
John smiled. “Did you bring more pancakes?”
Johnny laughed. “Not this time, bud. But I brought you something loud and annoying.”
He held up the monster truck and pressed the button.
It roared—loud, high-pitched, terrible.
John’s face lit up.
“YES!” he shouted, launching off the couch to grab it.
Johnny watched him run off with the truck, crashing it into the coffee table immediately.
A warmth spread through his chest.
