The Price Of Fate
Rage flashed through me.
I climbed. The dragon saw me coming and twisted, its tail whipping across the air. I dropped beneath it, folded one wing, then rose along its blind side. Seraphina’s instinct guided my strike. Not throat first. Wing joint. Weaker. Slower to defend. I sank my claws into the joint where wing met shoulder and tore. The dragon bellowed. Its body rolled, trying to crush me beneath it. I released just before its weight turned. Another Emberfall dragon came from above and struck it hard enough to drive it lower. I followed, breathing fire across its damaged wing. It fell through smoke, not dead, but grounded, and the moment it hit, three Vaelcryns surged over it.
