Romans & histoires Winning At Life

She felt euphoric, more alive than ever. "You are beautiful! I never tire of admiring you. I have been the luckiest man in the world to have you by my side, and although I have made many mistakes, I am glad that life is giving me an opportunity to win you back." When he saw Galata frown, he knew he had had a lapse and ended up talking more than he should have. The woman's words were not long in coming. "When did you win me over and lose me? To say you have a new opportunity to win me back?" she asked, narrowing her eyes suspiciously, confirming her suspicions once more.

"You both would be proud of me the day I finally become the mafia Lord. You will never remember all of this." "That will be the day you will succeed in driving me to kill myself." "That is the principle of life mother. Celebrate victory, disgrace failures. Acknowledge winners. Disregard losers." "There are losers that are preferred to winners. And I do not want either of my children to be appreciated in public, mocked in secret." "The most important thing is winning and surviving. That's the only thing that matters." "Look, enough of this winner nonsense. Where is the boy right now? I want to see him for myself now.

She did not want to be a burden to Tyler again. Yvonne was worried. “What else do you have in mind?” Kelsey quietly downed a few drinks. She suddenly lifted her chin and asked, “Isn’t the Runway Revolution happening next month? I heard the winner of the first prize gets up to 10 million dollars.” Yvonne was taken aback. “Are you planning to take part in the design competition?” Kelsey nodded. “I’d like to try.” Yvonne was glad. “That’s great. I’m sure you’ll win.”

I can learn from him. “It’s the winning that causes the obsession,” he says. “That momentary exhilaration as though you’re on top of the world, unbeatable, invincible. You experience it once and you never forget it. No matter how often you lose after that, you keep seeking that elusive thrill that for a time made you forget all the troubles in your life.” “So which was I, that night at Orley’s? Something to possess because you could? Or something to win for the momentary delight it would bring?”

Not fully. Just recognition. “You’re pushing everything at once,” he says. “Yes.” “That’s not sustainable.” “It doesn’t need to be.” “It does if you want to win.” I don’t respond immediately. Because this isn’t about winning anymore. Not in the way it was before. “Define winning,” I say instead. He pauses. Because the answer isn’t simple anymore. Not with everything on the table. “Keeping the company,” he says finally. “That’s one definition.” “And the other?”

The words appeared new and presented an opposite meaning contrary to what she planned. The young woman continued reading. When you do the common things in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world….. Safe life is a wasted life, God made you for far, far more than the life you let your fears define you. Only those who play to win; only those who risk to win. History favors risk takers and forgets the timid mind while everything else is just mere commentary.

Not just survival, but the chance to actually live. And I wasn't going to waste it. Starting now, I would build a life worth living. Not just worth protecting. A life of creation and love and joy. A life where my daughter could flourish without fear. A life where my marriage could deepen beyond tactical partnership. A life where my company could inspire instead of just succeed. That was the real victory. And it started today. I gathered my sketches and went downstairs. Marcus was making breakfast. Emma was setting the table. Normal. Mundane. Beautiful.

“are you-“ She cut me off. “I always thought London was a coward, it seems you both actually suit each other. Two scaredy cats sitting on their haunches and waiting for a miracle to happen. Well, newsflash, there’s nothing like a miracle. The only people in life who win, who get what they want are those who go out and get it. I have never in my life, let something as fickle as fate or luck determine my life. That’s how I got to where I am today.” “you could never understand. This isn’t about another achievement or rung in the ladder of the corporate empire. This is something more, a whole other ball game that you can’t just bulldozer your way into.” I said through gritted teeth. “Everything

"CHEERS!" Life is a journey of losses and gains. It's not so much about how much we lose, but how much we are willing to fight for what we have left and how much we are willing to give to get the gains.

he waved a hand towards the doorway “—take care of everything for us? How will that help us rescue Yuqi?” “And Bao,” chimed in Phil, popping up next to David. Honestly, it’s a wonder either of them had managed to survive the last sixteen years. And I was supposed to be the one riding my luck. “I know it’d be great if we came up with some amazingly unlikely plan and then somehow managed to pull it off,” I said, “but this isn’t a movie. We don’t get to win because we’re being played by actors who have it written into their contracts. Life doesn’t work like that. You know how life works? Even if you pull off a million to one shot, someone will find a way to fuck you out of it. Put all your mone
