It's either history, military, or supernatural romances. I've never understood why so many people preferred such kinds of novels and genres all that much. Though, I meant that for the latter part. They're basically the same every single time. An average lady meets one sexy, handsome, extraordinary man, or two hot males battle over her, and there's usually some ridiculous drama that brings her further and deeper together with the men, and then she has to choose the obvious decision. Everyone had predicted her decision since the very beginning of the chapter. "And they're usually sequels or fantasy epics," I mumbled to myself.

He was the owner of the house for crying out loud, and she was only the tenant, so she ought to be the one doing all of the work. When she was done washing, she went back to her room to do some reading. She loved novels, especially second chance stories and romance novels that told tales of rich or influential men marrying poor, less-privileged women. She wanted the exact same thing for herself. But until she got it, she would immerse herself in books that would put her as close as possible to the reality she was eagerly looking forward to.

She raised her brows. “Seriously?” He narrowed his eyes at her. “Yes, seriously! Ah yous should check it out too, come I’ll read it out to you, it’s great!” She clapped her hands in excitement. “No thank you, you know I don’t read romance,” He shook his head. “But it’s a unique one,” She protested, “A popular mystery/thriller writer is thrown inside her own novel! How cool is that?” “Hmm?” he raised his brows. “Did it pick your interest?” She wiggled her brows. “Ah, the guy has the same name as you, by the way,” She added.

What was your inspiration to write The Lady and the Scoundrel? I am a writer and full-time editor for many different projects, including a short story magazine. I wanted to write a contemporary romance inspired by my favorite romance novels as an exercise in discipline, to see if I could take on longer writing projects. There are several winks to what once was one of my favorite romance novels sprinkled throughout the story, so you can say it’s very loosely inspired by that one.
