Once we were out of the forest, Envy leaped into the sky and soared like she'd been flying forever. "It took me ten tries before I could fly without crashing into something," Ryden whispered. "She's magnificent," I agreed, unable to take my eyes from her. "This is amazing, wonderful, stupendous," Envy said, her deep violet wings beating against the bright sky. I flew over to her. "It really is the best, right?" Her giddiness and enthusiasm rubbed off on me. Snow White was enjoying herself as well. I've never flown before, she squealed happily. Her voice caught.

Eyes that were filled with envy, jealousy, and hatred. "Enjoy it while it last!" Someone said to themselves in the dark.

He smirked. My fists clenched, nails digging into my palm. “Stay out of my business, demon.” My voice came out low, too low, like something darker had stirred beneath my skin. “Ahhh…” Envy leaned closer, smile widening. “So you were rejected. And now you’re already in love with someone else? How lucky you are.” His tone twisted, darkened. “I lost the one I loved once. And I’ve never fallen for another. Yet here you are, already forgetting your mate. Falling for another while your bond still lingers? That’s… disgusting.” He chuckled, but the anger flickering in his eyes betrayed him.
