No one dared to scream at stormy grew eyes like that and it was either the girl had lost her mind or she was new to the order of things in Wolf Academy. Not a lot of people lived here. Not wanting to draw unnecessary attention to myself, I kept my head down and just carried on walking. In September, I arrived on Northbridge University's campus with a duffel bag over my shoulder. The front gates were wider and taller than I had imagined. Students moved past me in every direction, laughing, carrying coffee, pulling suitcases, wearing hoodies with names of clubs I had never heard of. Sunlight fell across the stone buildings, warm and clear. Standing there, I knew a new chapter of my life had begun. The exam incident had not broken me. If anything, it had taught me how heavy justice could be, and how much effort it sometimes took to make it land.

"Thank you." They spent the next hour packing their meager belongings. Aria owned so little that everything fit into a single worn backpack. She changed out of the borrowed dress and into sturdy jeans, boots, and a warm jacket. As she tied her hair back, she caught sight of herself in the cracked mirror. Her amber eyes, usually soft and gentle, held a new hardness. The girl who had walked into that clearing tonight—naive, hopeful, believing her mate would solve all her problems—was gone. In her place was someone who would have to learn to save herself.

The same town that once broke her… was now starting to heal. She opened her notebook. On a blank page, she wrote: Chapter One: Rebuild. Because this wasn’t the end. This was the beginning.
