Hi Readers, It's me Khris and I wanted to appreciate you for reading my book and even taking your time to add it to your library. I really appreciate you. I am also very sorry for my inconsistent updates, I'm not usually like this, it's just that life has been very difficult for me. I know it's none of your business as to how my life goes but I take this as a small family, a small community where we can be friends. This is my very first book so all reviews matter, every single one. Even if you feel like it doesn't, it does to me.

It’s just… not what I was expecting ” He shrugged, flipping another page. “I keep telling you not to judge me with your assumptions.” “I'm sorry if my assumptions don't fit your personality,” I said, taking the seat across from him. “Why this book?” I asked, stealing the opportunity to know what the real Kael is like. “I like books that… make me think. And this one does.” “Think about what?” I asked, hoping my curiosity wasn't obvious. “Is this some sort of interview?” he asked, placing the book on the table without closing it.

The reviews began arriving on Thursday. Patricia Osei had told me to read them but not to organize my understanding of the book around them because the book had been written for the women in the long middle and the women in the long middle were not the reviewers. The reviewers were the first room the book passed through on its way to the people it was for. The first review I read was from a literary publication that described the book as unflinching and specific and written with the particular authority of someone who had lived inside the thing she was describing rather than observing it from outside.

"You wrote something true. You wrote something that comes from lived experience. People recognize that." More reviews come in over the following weeks. They're mostly positive. Some are critical. Some reviewers want him to go further. Some want him to make it more personal. Some want him to make it more corporate. But all of them acknowledge that the book is important. All of them acknowledge that Dominic has written something that fills a gap.

"How can I hire someone who doesn't describe their favourite book for me?" "The book will speak for itself. I can give any book I read a review and I can recommend it to someone, but at the end of the day I cannot convince someone to fall in love with a book."
