Writing Serial Fiction Novels & Stories

I’d spend hours inventing stories, scribbling them in notebooks or even on the corners of my school papers. When my dad passed away, writing became my refuge. It was my way of coping with the grief and finding a world where I could feel safe. Over time, it turned into more than just a hobby. I started writing serialized stories for a company after entering a contest on social media. Winning third place in that contest changed everything, and I’d been writing for them ever since.

Serena's POV It took thirteen months to write. She hadn't planned that. She had planned something shorter, something with cleaner edges, a journalism piece, maybe, the kind her father had written for most of his working life. The kind built to carry its weight under pressure, where every sentence had a reason to be there and nothing wandered off course. She had planned something she could hand to someone and say: here, this is what happened, and then step back from it. Something that wouldn't cost her the things she wasn't sure she had left to spend.

I’ve been submitting more entries to the same ol’ publisher that has rejected every of my written pieces. I just didn’t know how to give up. Not yet. I knew I was born to be a well-known writer.

I would NEVER, EVER, draw out a story unnecessarily for the sole purpose of costing my readers more to read it. Serial publishing is a difficult medium for authors because it does not allow us to review a completed work and edit it as a whole. In Serial publishing, once we have committed to a storyline, we have no opportunity to delete it or rework it. So while it is imperfect, we hope the ultimate goal is achieved in that our readers enjoy the overall story as a complete work. I am currently writing chapter 110 of this book and expect the finished version to have around 115 chapters which I hope to complete over the weekend.
