BEFORE I KNEW IT, I FINISHED WRITING In total darkness. Back then, the night was silent and, of course, scary. Normally, I don't really mind writing on a dark night or finding myself in the middle of a dark place yet as if I was watching the ending scene of a horror movie, all my senses turned on and scared the hell out of me, especially when my story ended in such a morbid conclusion. You know that feeling when you suddenly thought of something scary while you were pissing in the bathroom with no accompanying light around you. Yeah, that shuddering feeling that goes along with the pleasure of releasing some juice, I felt that.

"And you have pissed me off." He believes me. Suddenly he believes every horror story he has been told since he was a little boy. That they were all true: the dead things hungering for the warm living flesh; the bony hand coming out of the closet in the black of night; the monsters from another page of reality, the unturned page--who could look so human, so cute. A VERY LONG AUTHOR’S NOTE: The plot wasn't supposed to revolve around romance... nor even had a werewolf in it. The initial plot was a literal horror story about a girl being stalked by some supernatural creature ahem sLeNdEr MaN ahem until he eats her–but I felt it was too predictable, too boring–so let's add Greek mythology and a bunch of other monsters to the blender because I am too done with life for a complicated plot right now and just wanted someone to suffer.

I pulled it from the shelf and sat down at the table, flipping it open. The first few pages were filled with the usual stuff—founding dates, town milestones, and the kind of folklore that every small town seemed to have. But as I read further, the stories grew darker. Mentions of strange disappearances, shadowy figures in the woods, and whispers of creatures that hunted under the full moon. Wolves. My breath caught in my throat as I skimmed over the passages. It wasn’t just talk of wild animals. There were stories—centuries old—of people who could shift into wolves. People who lived among the townsfolk by day but became something else under the cover of darkness.

Ken asks while trying to make the conversation a little lighter. "I swear, Ken. Big huge hairy creatures that shift between men....and ugly wolf-men hybrids...They also talked about vampires at the place they held me for four days. We don't live in the world we think we do...I swear on mom. The girl I escaped with...they shot her in the back of the head. To escape from the basement I made the furnace explode...I killed people to get away from them, Kenny. I became a monster to escape monsters. I would never make that up," I declare, and Ken's eyes widen as he digests my words.

When the last ray of sunshine turns as red as blood, when the Red Moon becomes full, our victory is near. I swallowed and scrambled for my laptop, trying to copy the test as it started to shift and become illegible again. I managed to get it all down just as it vanished. I blotted my nose and smeared the blood across the page, hoping there was enough blood there to reveal more words. The passage before and after it until I could ready the full page. It was written in a very flowery way, but it was written like a journal, I think. This had to have been written by a vampire or a werewolf with a deep connection to vampires.
