My fingers twitched, wanting to reach for him, to pull him closer.
“That’s what I thought.” He didn’t wait for an answer. His mouth descended, claiming mine. It wasn’t a gentle kiss. It was hungry, demanding, full of a banked fire I hadn’t known he possessed. His lips were soft, yet firm... pressing... exploring... His tongue, hot and insistent, swept into my mouth, tangling with mine, tasting the whiskey, the desperation, the unspoken longing. I moaned, a soft, involuntary sound, and leaned into him, letting the chair creak beneath me. His hand left my jaw, moving to the nape of my neck, holding me steady as he devoured my mouth. I tasted him too, and it was intoxicating.
