He won't let us part.
The dagger glints between us, black and waiting. The air around it ripples faintly, like heat on stone, and a scent rises from the blade, iron and pine sap, old magic and older oaths. My stomach twists.
Atlas shifts, moving so subtly most wouldn’t see it, but I feel it in the tightening of his grip, in the tremor in his arm.
