I knew I shouldn't have let her stress herself yesterday and catch all those viruses, it all my fault. "Don't blame yourself on my sickness, you know you did nothing wrong" she says while placing her hand on my shoulder as I was squatting below her and trying to warm up her feet. It's like she read my thoughts when she said that. It's true, I've always blamed myself for being careless whenever she gets sick. Those times, I might have been just throwing a tantrum but this time around, it is real. It's all my fault. Getting married is no joke and it takes a lot from someone who is even healthy.

He took the phone and turned it off. At another location, Mrs Wellington was sitting on a bed with a lady friend. “So, how did it go?" Maria asked, searching Mrs Wellington's face for answers. “He switched off his phone," Mrs Wellington replied dejectedly and Maria smiled making Mrs Wellington frown. “That is a good sign. You worked him up. Does he have any chronic illness? Like Hypertension, diabetes, cancer, maybe," Maria asked with a broad smile plastered on her face. “Not that I know off but he is still my husband and I don't have plans of losing him to the cold hands of death," Mrs Wellington said sternly, staring at Maria with a frown not at all finding her comment as funny.

"Well in case you haven't noticed, I'm married," Charlotte pointed out. Christian reached forward and grabbed her shoulder causing her to gasp in fear. "That's not a problem, you can leave your husband and get a divorce from him. I don't care if you are married; you belong to me and me alone."

But he became oblivious to my cries as he scoffed and said. "I don't make the same mistake twice." Unable to understand his statement I continued to cry. "Do it!" He said loudly as I startled and began to let out convulsed gasps of dread. He let go of me as I signed the papers with my shaky hand. Feeling utterly broken, I wiped my tears and gave him an infuriated look. I slammed the papers in his hands and looked at him, "Now that you have made this marriage nothing but a mere contract. Let me tell you one thing, Mr Christian Elvis," I said coldly. As I was about to get out, I gave him one last furious look and said, "This marriage will be toxic for both of us."

The espresso machine hissed and gurgled. "Sleep well?" I asked, because apparently I was a masochist. "Fine." "Liar." His head snapped toward me. "Excuse me?" "You look like you slept about as well as I did. Which is to say, terribly. So let's not pretend." His jaw clenched. "How I sleep is none of your business." "We're married. I'm pretty sure it's literally my business now." "We're married on paper. Not in reality." "Right. Because that distinction makes this so much better."
