A Sinful Devotion
“Afraid that you’d stop wanting me. Afraid that I’d ruin everything. Afraid that I’d never deserve you.”
Nicholas’s fingers stroked my hair, his thumb brushing the line of my cheek. “You deserve me,” he said softly, almost a command. “And I deserve you. Not perfect. Not without scars. But you. Always you.”
Tears pricked the corner of my eyes. I laughed softly, a sound of relief, of disbelief, of joy mingled with fear. “Always you,” I repeated, letting it anchor me.
