The pressure behind my eyes appeared suddenly. Sharp. Familiar. A vision. Damn it. The world blurred. Buildings dissolved. Voices vanished. Darkness replaced everything. Then images emerged. A rooftop. A rifle. A man kneeling near the edge. Watching. Waiting. Not aiming to kill. A test. The realization arrived instantly. He wasn't hunting me. He was measuring me. Measuring my reaction. My abilities. My awareness. The vision shifted. The rifle fired. Glass shattered. Panic erupted. People screamed.

He rushed over and grabbed the man's collar, eyes bloodshot. "Whose photos are you looking at?"

“I can smell your fear,” “You’d be mad to think I’m afraid of you!” I cursed. He laughed, trailing his thumb up my body, then my face, until it rested on my right eyes. “What are you doing?” Before I could complete my question, the pressure of his thumb grew. He pushed hard into my right eye. Pain exploded through my head. I screamed as he dug deeper and yanked my eye out. Blood poured down my face. I cried loudly, my whole body shaking from the shock.

The snake-eyes thundered, his nails turning into long, sharp claws. I exhaled. The fury filled my body with an unexpected force. I had to fight for my survival, and that might have been my best chance to attack the snake-eyed guy. I did a roundhouse kick and then finished it by stabbing one of his eyes with my heel. He blared as his eyeball turned into a dark-red pulp.

A large shard of glass, gleaming and curved like a crescent moon soared in from behind, so fast it was a blur. It pierced his stomach with a sickening schlop, continued upward, and embedded itself in both of his eyes. He didn’t even scream. Just fell like a puppet with its strings cut.
