“You’re insane.” “So I’ve been told.”

Only one word left my mouth, "Dad!”

“Tell me what’s going on.” I take a deep breath, steadying myself before I begin. “It’s about my One. Or rather . . . my Ones.” I glance at Akin and then at River, my heart racing as I try to explain the situation as clearly as possible. “I thought Akin was my One. I felt the connection, the power, everything. But then something happened with River.” Mother frowns, confusion flashing across her face. “What do you mean, something happened with River?”

She informs and I nod. “You both must be really close” I turn my attention to her, watching to see anything that could give away. She responds with a sad smile “Yeah we are, she’s the only family I have left and I would not trade her for anything”

"I don't know how to tell you this, my lady, but you're the only one I can speak to about it. And I have to tell you because it is for your good and probably the good of this pack." Sweat broke on my forehead and my heart was beating fast. "Well then, go ahead and tell me," I pushed, bracing myself for the worst.

"I am only speaking the truth, sir" "You…"

The fact that he had let me be the one to tell her myself meant more than I wanted to admit. My fingers tightened around the edge of the couch. Tell her. The small voice in my head sounded surprisingly reasonable. Don't tell her. The louder voice practically screamed. Just sit here and enjoy your life while you still have one. “I mean, how can someone be that cheap?” Brianna continued, her words beginning to blur together as my thoughts raced. My pulse hammered against my ribs. I couldn't do this anymore. Before I could change my mind, the words slipped out. “I'm the one, Bre.”

It continued to race and all I could do was take deep breaths in an attempt to keep calm. My besties hugged me one by one. "It will be fine. He loves you and you love him." Isla told me. "I know. It is just that….I haven't told him that I do." I bit my lips. "I think I will tell him tonight." "Really?" Both of them squealed, but quickly went silent when Nolan whimpered in his sleep. We hastened to tiptoe out of the room and close the door as silently as we could after us.

Nobody would tell her anything. Shuffling outside would tell her someone, or several people, guarded her room. No matter how much she knocked and shouted, they wouldn't respond at all. The only interaction she'd had since being kidnapped was the few words the mysterious man had spoke. Frustrated, she groaned and fell back onto the bed. Tears pricked her eyes as she listened to her favourite movie in the background. It only reminded her of Lucas.

''Don't make a fool of me, sweet cheeks.'' "You are the only one who knows about this,'' he says in an angry tone.
