Pada hari ketiga dinas di luar provinsi, grup WhatsApp wali murid putraku yang sudah lama sepi tiba-tiba kedatangan seorang anggota baru. Saat aku mengeklik pesan suara yang dikirimnya, terdengar suara wanita yang asing dan manis. "Halo semuanya, saya guru bahasa Indonesia baru di sekolah ini, sekaligus ibunya Daniel. Mohon bimbingannya, semuanya!" Seluruh tubuhku kaku. Aku mengeklik daftar anggota grup dan membandingkannya berulang kali. Putraku bernama Daniel. Dia adalah ibu Daniel, lalu aku ini siapa? Aku segera menelepon suamiku, "Apa ada orang yang salah masuk ke grup wali murid anak kita?" Di ujung telepon, suaranya sempat terhenti sejenak, lalu dia tertawa seolah tidak terjadi apa-apa. "Oh, mungkin salah masuk. Ada banyak anak di sekolah, nama yang sama itu wajar. Ada apa memangnya?" Aku menjawab tidak ada apa-apa sambil tersenyum. Namun, setelah menutup telepon, malam itu juga aku langsung memesan tiket pesawat dan terbang menuju sekolah putraku.

« On ne devrait pas faire ça », murmurai-je. « Oh Ashley ! Gardons ça pour nous, elle n'a pas besoin de le savoir, personne n'a besoin de le savoir », répondit-il doucement en m'embrassant derrière l'oreille. Je me suis abandonnée à lui. Il m'a délicatement déposée sur le lit et j'ai fermé les yeux. J'ai savouré chaque caresse, chaque baiser tandis qu'il explorait mon corps. J'ai frissonné de plaisir. « Je sais que tu me désires aussi. » Il est revenu à mes lèvres et m'a embrassée passionnément. Bannie de sa meute, Ashley trouve refuge dans celle de son amie. Elle n'aurait jamais imaginé tomber amoureuse du père de sa meilleure amie et goûter à tous les plaisirs qu'il a à lui offrir. Parviendra-t-elle à naviguer dans les eaux troubles d'un amour interdit tout en préservant son amitié ?

“Where’s that bastard?” My eyes snapped toward the woman storming into the room like a hurricane. “I couldn’t stop her, Mr. Darian!” I waved the guy away and studied the woman whose hair looked like it had gone through war, clearly fighting her way up here. I just want to shove these papers down his throat,” she said, waving the papers in my face. “There must be a mistake,” I said, still trying to piece this insanity together. “Oh stop feeding me fairy tales! Where is that son of a bitch?” “Are you insane? There’s clearly a mistake here! I am Darian Freeman and I am one hundred percent sure I am not your husband!”

After five miscarriages, I seek out a doctor to ask why I can't carry my babies to term. However, I overhear his conversation with my husband when I'm at the door. "The abortion medication you've prescribed is quite effective—she's already had five miscarriages. When can you do a hysterectomy? I can't let Adrianna have my child. "Oh, and give me something to keep a mother and baby safe. Monica is pregnant with my child; I have to make sure she gives birth to a healthy baby." The doctor says, "Adrianna's health has deteriorated over the years, though. It's highly likely she'll never have children." Reynold Scott scoffs indifferently. "So what? It's precisely because I don't want her to have children that I've been making her miscarry! Look, let's end this here. I need to accompany Monica on a shopping spree for the baby." I feel cold all over when I hear this. It turns out the love I've been defending is nothing but a joke.
