Joey’s eyes widen in surprise, but he quickly shakes his head. “No, I’m not. I’m trying to reason with you, that’s all.”
“In that case, keep your thoughts to yourself,” I growl.
“I’m just trying to warn you,” Joey whispers, voice much softer than before. “We don’t know who he is, only that he can provide rogues for us to use. That man could be anyone, or even worse—he could be working with someone else behind the scenes and this could be a trap.”
