At least they were familiar faces in this madhouse. But before I could take a single step toward them, a hand clamped onto mine. I turned, and my breath caught. Kika. Her eyes burned into mine, both her hands wrapped in thick bandages, crutches tucked awkwardly under her arms. How the hell is she even here? I thought, my stomach twisting. I paralyzed her… “Congratulations on becoming the 100th wild cat,” Kika said with a faint smile, her voice surprisingly calm. “Thank you,” I replied, trying to mirror her expression, though my gaze kept drifting to her bandaged arms. She looked like she was barely standing. “I’m really sorry for all this,” I added, gesturing toward her injuries.

Leo peeked out from behind her, holding his stuffed toy. "Show us!" Heidi demanded. "Show him how to not break stuff!" Duncan smiled, picking up a fragile, thin piece of drywall chalk. He handed it to Zach. "Hold this. I want you to squeeze it. But don't break it." Zach gripped the chalk. His knuckles turned white, his young wolf core panicking under the pressure. One more thing, when he wants, that’s really what he wants. What water sports did Zach and Kirk do. That’s often their bonding. Meanwhile, I remained on the shore, keeping them on my sight. Zach is taller than his average age. I think because of his foreign blood. We have a mix of Escareals and so do the Salamedas. He's intelligent and has a mature way of thinking compared to the boys his age. By the way, at times like that and I let him ride a jet ski and whatnot, I was still worried.

Vincent began to step forward, and he was about to cross. "Vince! Vincent!" called Zach, preventing Vincent's move. Vincent stopped and looked back. "Never mind, it's too late. Let's check it tomorrow!" said Zach, raising his voice. Vincent was hesitant initially, but he gave in because Zach was carrying Kyron. Vincent returned and ignored her scent. He went into the house to put Kyron to sleep. "What do you think is outside? What other wild animals?" Vincent asked Zach, who was making his tea. "No wild animals, Vincent!" Vincent's brows furrowed when he heard Zach's words. Zach looked very relaxed as if nothing had happened.

“Mami, you have to see the chickens. Their feathers look like… like blankets. And yesterday me and Zoe made a plan. Zoe said if the chickens act arrogant, we have to chase them so they remember who’s boss.” “I’m not the boss,” Zoe yelled from behind us, too loud for a house this expensive. “I’m the queen.” Krystal let out a long breath. Zach walked beside her, one hand resting on her back, protective without needing to advertise it. He glanced at Zane, then at me. “You look alive.” “Thanks for the prayer,” I replied. Zenna drifted up next, brushing my arm. “Look at you two,” she murmured, her sharp gaze sweeping us like a headline. “You look like a couple returning from war and a honeymoon a

It was a wild wolf that did this,” she said, her voice tinged with sadness.

Not good enough to be obvious, not bad enough to be unforgivable. Tyler walked over with a smile, carrying two gift boxes. The pink one was for Maddison. The gray one was for me.
