Zack frowned and looked at me, “You don’t remember me?” I shook my head frowning myself. We have met? Where? I looked closely at Zack to place him but nothing was coming to me, no prior memory of him. Zack simply smiled at me and said, “Then let it be, just know that we have met.” I was about to prob him more for the answer when it came to me, Where I had met him before, “You had helped Cole when he got injured at the annual hunt. Right?”

He shot out, taking another step closer, his fist clenched. Chris chuckled, almost at the brink of laughing out loud. "Or what? You'll lose control?" He raised an eyebrow, taunting Zack. "Typical you; you haven't changed. You're still the same supercilious asshole." Zack's movement halted, his feet rooting to the spot as if anchoring himself from what he perceived. This time, he recognized the voice more thoroughly – the pitch, the taunting tone, the confident swagger. It sparked a memory, long dormant, yet eerily familiar.

He ran from the field which made his breathing unstable as he spoke, "Wow, you're early, Zeekie!" Zack made a sour face as sweat cooled on his thick brows down to his full lips. I could smell the scent of fields and grass when he positioned himself below the air conditioner. His wet look made him more manly than ever. I was busy staring at the veins that form in his arms when I heard him chuckle. "Quit staring, Zeekie. I might fall." Zack thick eyebrows met above his pointed nose, and a devilish smile formed his lips. "Stop calling me Zeekie!" I rolled my eyes. "My name is Zee Katie Liu Zamora. Stop mixing Zee and Kie from Katie, Zacky!" I emphasized the last word.

I heard Vance growled, advancing towards this jerk but I hovered my arm to stop him. Shaking my head, I stepped forward and scanned him from head to toe before locking my eyes to him. "I'm Valkyrie, daughter of Dimitri and this is my twin brother, Vance. May I know your name?" He smirked. "Zak——Zak of the Wolf Grave, the next in line to my father's throne." "And you're mated, Zak?"

I opened the car door, stepping out slowly. A smirk spread across my face. “Let me introduce myself properly. I’m Zoe Berry, Enforcer of Red Water Pack. Not so nice to see you, Beta James… Alpha Zack. It’s been a while.”

I ask, nodding my cup towards him before taking a small sip. Zack is in a red T-shirt and black jeans he's got dark glowing skin and one of his best features or one I consider to be his best feature is his shy smile and the way the skin beside his brown eyes get wrinkled up when he smiles. He's rearing a lower hair cut from the one I remembered him carrying and though yet to comment on it, I know it has something to do with trying to win Zander over and gets his approval.

Blood dripped from his mouth as he gagged. My eyes widened, and so did Mira’s, as blood dripped from the side of Zack’s lips. When the weapon retracted, Zack dropped to the floor with a thud, revealing an angry Lloyd, the weapon in his hand stained with blood. In the same moment, Lena, Xavier and Ragnar emerged from the darkness. I blinked.

Why did I sense he had a deep, dark secret involving me? My gaze swept over him as I processed his plea. There had to be something significant he wanted to discuss with me. But what was it? Why had he gone out of his way to assist me? Why had he been so kind to me? I needed answers before I vanished—I had a nagging feeling that Zack would pursue me relentlessly if I didn’t surrender now. “Promise me,” I said, raising my gaze to meet his. “Give me your word.” Zack nodded and replied, “I, Beta Zackary Jackson from the Royal Pack, give you my word.”
