“I already saw enough yesterday. I don't want to see any again. I am traumatized already.” Klaus glanced at her. “That was nothing, a child's play compared to what you will see today.” Before she could respond, Zane moved. Fast. Too fast. One moment he was standing still The next, he had crossed half the field in a blink and struck a training dummy so hard it shattered. Raine jumped.“What, I mean how did he… oh my goodness” “He enhanced his body,” Klaus said. Raine turned to him, glancing between him and Zane. “Enhanced?”

Zane’s voice rose again, booming across the clearing. “Those who follow me will be rewarded beyond anything they can imagine. But those who question me—” His eyes glowed bright amber, almost unnatural. “—will not survive.” The rogues bowed instantly. ”Alpha Zane!” ”Alpha Zane!” ”Alpha Zane!” Their chants thundered through the forest like a war cry. Zane watched them with a twisted satisfaction curling in his chest. Yes. This army would be enough. It had to be. The fog had thickened, pressing against the leather walls like a living thing. Zane sat at his table, studying an old map—one he had stolen from a dead historian years ago. It detailed ancient wolf bloodlines and the earliest packs bor

“For the bigger picture?.” I crossed my arms. “Well your bigger picture is about to be destroyed if that girl becomes Luna.” His eyes darkened. “That’s why I’m here,” he said. I froze. He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “With her in the picture, Zane grows stronger and untouchable. The pack will rally behind him once he crowns her Luna. Time will stop working in my favor.” I swallowed. “So what’s your plan?” I asked. He smiled slowly. “We have to remove her.”

“Let them drown her first.” Zane didn’t react, but she saw the tension in his jaw. He didn’t like her tone. He didn’t like much these days, not even his own reflection. Power had thickened around him like a second skin, making him heavier, sharper, less human. The dark rituals he’d stolen were working, they gave him strength, but they ate pieces of him with every breath. “Are the battalions positioned?” he asked. “All but one,” Renna said. “The western pack refuses to move without another sign from you.”

he said, a humorless smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth, “we must have looked easy to them.” I pushed the idol aside, the stone scraping harshly against the wood. My chest felt tight. “So what’s your plan?” Zane finally looked up at me. Really looked. His eyes were steady, dark, and calm in that terrifying way he got right before doing something reckless. “We give them exactly what they expect.” I raised a brow. “They want the granary,” he continued. “So you’ll take a team and move the supplies. Make it look like we’re preparing for something.”

In his hand, the Heart of the Moon pulsed with an eerie silver glow, its light illuminating his face twisted in triumph. Kaelan stood firm, his chest heaving as he tried to steady his breath. Blood trickled from a cut above his brow, but he didn’t flinch. His human form felt weaker than ever against Zane's towering, wolf-like presence. The power of the Heart had already begun to transform Zane, his features elongating, claws sprouting from his fingertips. He was almost unrecognizable now, a beast fueled by rage and ancient magic. Kaelan clenched his fists, his voice low and edged with fury. "I know exactly what I’ve done, Zane. I’ve fought to fix my mistakes. What about you? All this destruc

Recognition like this can keep morale high and prevent discontent in such a large pack. ‘You’re not wrong,’ I admit reluctantly, the logic sinking in. ‘With so many warriors, it’s important to channel their ambitions constructively. If they’re focused on earning leadership or an Elite spot, they’re less likely to cause trouble,’ Zanthe continues, her voice brimming with approval. ‘It’s clever,’ I agree, though part of me bristles at the idea of this many changes so quickly, especially as I’m still too fucking young to take part.

One of the remaining five men ran off, toward the club and the other four faced Zane, their expression darkening as they charged at him at full speed. Balancing on his feet, Zane drew a breath... After experiencing his mother's death and his father leaving him to die in another country, when he got a second chance to live, Zane knew he wanted revenge, and that wasn't something for the weak, so for years he tortured his body, training and honed his reflexes until he made himself the perfect fighting machine. Now the four men were ready to charge at him, Zane took a stance prepared to fight, ready to put years of experience from the frightening ring to the test.

"If you want the fire, you earn the fire. If you want the soup, you dig the ice. There are no 'Alphas' here, Sleeper. There is only the Pack of the Living." The First Real Work The next six hours were an agony of a different kind. Zane didn't use his strength to crush drones; he used it to haul iron sheets to reinforce the wind-break. His hands bled, the skin tearing on the cold metal, but he didn't stop. He worked with a grim, silent intensity, as if every sheet he moved was an apology for a thousand years of sleep. Kael didn't light fires with his mind; he spent four hours hunched over a pile of dry peat, striking a piece of flint until his thumbs were raw, just to keep the central flame f

It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Zane surprised me by asking me to show off my abilities. I had no problem showing off, and he was actually helpful with tips. At first, I was slightly irritated that he was giving me training tips, but then I realized he knew what he was talking about. Ever informed that Zane trains the new members and prepares them for the field, which explains why Ever, Kai, and Rupert are fantastic warriors.
