Zero With A Line Through It Novels & Stories

“Crown!” Elena activated the Crown. Seven million voices answered from far away. But the sphere rejected her. AUTHORITY INVALID Mother Zero laughed. “ONLY MY CHILD CAN CANCEL TERMINATION.” Elena froze. “My child?” Architect Zero. She understood. The weapon had been designed so Zero couldn't control it. But Mother Zero had just said— Her child. Not her first child. Elena looked deeper into the code. Two authorization signatures existed. MOTHER ZERO And another. Hidden. Unknown.

That whatever line existed between us had already been crossed and erased and redrawn into something blurred and dangerous. I nodded anyway. Not a full yes. Not a no. Just a small, uncertain dip of my chin. Taylor exhaled quietly, like he’d been holding something in. He didn’t push. Didn’t ask for details he wasn’t entitled to. “That’s okay,” he said simply. He reached out and patted my shoulder, a grounding, familiar gesture. “Whatever you decide. I’m not judging. You know that, right?” I nodded again, this time more firmly.

And your contact photo is adorable, by the way. A strangled, inhuman sound ripped from my throat. My contact photo. My baby picture contact photo. My mother was dead to me. I slammed out a reply, fingers flying. Me: Delete my number. Tristain: No <3 I choked on air. This man. This man was Satan with cheekbones. Another text came through—longer, somehow worse. Tristain: Also, next time you want to insult my jaw, at least pick something creative. The skull bit was funny, though. I’ll give you that.

Heavier. Less breathable. Then, suddenly, the passage opened. Valerie stopped. A massive door stood ahead of her. Black metal. No visible handle. No external mechanism. Only a single glowing inscription above it. SUBLEVEL ZERO AUTHORIZED ENTRY: VANE BLOODLINE ONLY Valerie stared at the words. Her heartbeat slowed slightly. Not from calmness. From disbelief. She had seen many restricted zones inside the mansion. But none like this. This wasn’t just security clearance. This was inheritance-based restriction.

"Are you ready Elliott?" "God yes," I translate with a smile as she signs with enthusiasm. I climb out of the bed and Carol turns off the ventilator, detaching the hose. We wait a minute to see if she can breathe on her own. After thirty seconds she starts wheezing and gasping for breath. Carol quickly reattaches the hose and turns the ventilator back on.

she asserted, emphasizing the word: he. I nodded. “Potassium!” “Huh?” “Potassium as in K… okay. You know the periodic table of elements, right?” I asked and smiled. “Oh. I see, nerdy,” she replied and we both laugh after. After the orientation, Becca tried to call Zero but the man is not answering his phone which pisses Becca. “Maybe he’s in a meeting or something,” I said when Becca tries for the third time. “Zero is not into meetings, but maybe you’re right,” she uttered and put down her phone.

It was a small circle. With a line through it. "What does that mean?" I said. "It means something that tried to be there but didn't stay," he said. "The opposite of category eight." He looked at the mark. "It happened. It's in the record. But it didn't stay." He looked at us. "The spiral is for staying. The circle with the line is for the things that tried and couldn't." I looked at Adrian. He was looking at the map. At the spirals and the circle with the line.

“Y-you told Kara there was no sigma mark.” “I did. Zara and I decided, as Orli’s parents, we didn’t want to tell anyone who didn’t need to know, Including you.” I cross my arms. “Inspect it a little closer.” Mom and Dad tilt their heads and look closer at the mark. Dad’s steel-gray eyes flicker up to me. “What are the extra lines? They’re too straight to be a fluke.”

"Didn't you see Monica's foot? Zanaya noticed that too. 3 taps means 3 dots in Morse Code, and 3 slides are 3 dashes." 3 taps, 3 slides, 3 taps. .../---/... = SOS Monica needed help. I looked in front again and took a good look at Monica's position. Those two boys were still holding her even though she was already tied up. In fact, there was no need to do that because she was already bound. She could no longer escape. "Those guys are pointing a pocket knife on Monica's side," Chris said as his jaw clenched. There was a hint of concern in his voice. "I hope Zanaya got the message."

The year I started middle school, my parents solemnly handed my sister and me each a bank card. "This is your college fund. There's 100,000 dollars in each one. The password is your birthday. Don't touch it unless it's truly an emergency." I listened. I treated that card like a treasure. I never bought a single new piece of clothing. Even my worn-out canvas shoes got patched with glue and worn again. I thought that if I was just responsible enough, I'd live up to my parents' idea of "fairness." Then, after the SATs ended, I wanted to use the money on the card for a graduation trip with my classmates. Instead, the ATM screen flashed a number that burned my eyes: [Balance: $0.00]. At th
