Scars of the Heart
Rose screamed as the fireball exploded in size, burning too bright, and the light blinding to look at.
“Elena, get back!” Grayson shouted, pulling her behind him. Damien opened fire, bullets bouncing uselessly off Monroe’s shield of light.
Rosa burst out of the shadows, blades flashing as she carved through Monroe’s remaining soldiers. “Go!” she yelled. “I’ll clear the way!”
But Elena ignored them all. She broke free of Grayson’s grip, stumbling forward with her arms wide.
“If you have to burn me, then burn me, Rose,” she whispered, tears streaming. “I’d rather die in your hands–in your fire than let you die in his chains.”
