Raya was suddenly silent, and I felt my body trying to shift back to my human form. I did not understand it until I noticed some particles in the air. Silver dust. Almost unnoticeable. "Silver dust. I held my breath and stepped back while fighting my shift back to my human form. I could not hold it for long, so I let go and continued to breathe the poison. "How could you be digging through trash?" Her face darkened as her eyes swept over me from head to toe. When her gaze landed on my washed-out jeans, something complicated flickered in her eyes. Andrew leaned in. "Chase, you really know how to play the victim, don't you? Since when do you scavenge for garbage? Or did you know we were shopping here today and decided to put on a show?" Zoey's expression grew even darker. She grabbed me and dragged me away. "Come home with me!" she snapped.

Zoe's POV : I and Michael Ardolf were the best shining stars in the college. Everybody was jealous of me as Michael was the Dean's son and the star of the college. He was the handsome hunk that every girl was after him. But, he was never a playboy and has got eyes for only me. Or I thought so. But, it has ended for good. It's not easy to find her boyfriend sleeping with her best friend. And the nerve of them that they blamed alcohol for it. Michael was not only my boyfriend but my best friend too. But now, he feels nothing but a stranger.

The door bursts open and Zoey walks in. She arch her brows at Stacey's zombie like figure and down to the phone she was gripping tightly. "Stacey!" She calls out and fold her arms. Stacey jerks out of her thoughts to stare at her. "You look like you've seen a ghost. Wayne finally agreed to date you huh?" She taunted. Stacey groans and push to her feet. "Zoey, could you stop it already!. I'm not in for your joshing right now!" She blurts out and drops the phone on the bed. Zoey clucks her tongue.

“Wanna do something? Go out, grab drinks, get high, whatever. I’m losing my mind here.” Zoey barely glanced up, her fingers still tapping away at her screen. “Pass,” she said, her tone distracted. “I’m busy.” Then she looked at me, her smirk widening into a grin that screamed trouble. “Guess what? Me and Michael Thompson are this close to taking Laura Davies down. We dug up some serious dirt on her past—stuff that’ll ruin her.”

Her core started to tingle. “Zoey, cover up.” Zoey pretended like she was going through a bad pain. She winced and covered up. Charlotte could see the shadows of pain in Zoey’s eyes, and it made her heart troubled. “Which pack do you come from again? I do not remember,” Charlotte asked gently, hoping to ease the tension in the room. Zoey looked up, her gaze hesitant. “I come from the Moon Sturdy Pack,” she replied softly. “I’ve been an omega since I was little. Life hasn’t been fair to me.”

“Nothing you need to know.” She leaned back on her hands. “Damian blocked me,” she said casually, like she wasn’t poking a bruise. “He actually dared to break up with me and then he blocked me. Worse; he’s been glued to Monica like some loyal idiot. Running around like he’s her freaking hand bag.” I felt it then. That tight, burning pull in my chest. Zoey snorted. “I still don’t get it. She’s the janitor’s daughter. She smells like poverty. What do you two even see in her?”
