Zoey didn't answer anymore as Zara walked away to get their canned beers. A few moments later, Zara went back with four canned beers in her hands. She gave one can to Zoey and put the two other ones on the table. While she opened the remaining one on her hand before sitting beside her sister. Zara sipped on her beer and burped loudly. She smiled at the thought of drinking and breaking her own rules. Her immediate superior won't like it if she will know what she's doing at the jiffy.

He shouted. The bartender brought more bottles and dropped them on the table for him. He took all the empty ones away. Lorenzo corked it and drank from it. His vision was getting blurred as his head started throbbing. But yet, he couldn't stop himself from gulping more of his drinks. "I loved her. I loved Sophie and I never planned to lose her but now...," He mumbled and chugged down the drink.

So he controls the steel. I stand up. My legs are sore from the ride, my skin tender from the friction against the brick wall. I walk to the kitchen. Zara is there, leaning against the counter, nursing a mug of coffee. She’s wearing a flannel shirt that’s too big for her, her hair pulled back in a messy knot. The bruises on her face are fading to a sickly yellow. She watches Drakon through the doorway. "He's spiraling," Zara says quietly.

He lowered his claws with a low, gutteral growl and say back in his seat, his glare never leaving Zara. She shot her eyes and opened them again just as the music began to play again and the bartender returned to wiping a glass behind the counter. "Spill it," David murmured, dragging a bottle of beer towards him. Slowly, Zara too brought a bottle of beer to her lips and took a calm sip. "Zane knew all these would happen, he foresaw it," she said coolly, her eyes fixed on me. "Oh, so he's a seer now?"

A waiter poured the crimson liquid into Sora’s glass with mechanical precision. "Drink," Vardan commanded. His eyes locked onto Sora, leaving no room for defiance. "I’m not getting drunk in front of a prick like you," Sora hissed. Vardan smirked. It was cruel. "Drink it yourself, or I’ll wrap my hand around your throat and pour it down until you choke."

Behind me, the elevator hissed shut, leaving me alone with the man who had just spent ten billion dollars to turn me into his personal war-machine. "You can stop clutching your robe like a shield, Zora," Dante’s voice rumbled. He was already at the obsidian bar, pouring a liquid that looked like liquid gold into two heavy crystal glasses. He didn't look at me, but I could feel his gaze—a heavy, physical weight on my skin. "In this building, the only thing that can hurt you is me. And I’m currently occupied with a drink."

He turned back to the bed where Zora was lying with her eyes closed, her breathing shallow and her face looking too pale. "Water," she whispered. "Please, I need water." Trent immediately grabbed the pitcher on the bedside table and poured a glass. He sat on the edge of the bed and helped her sit up slightly, bringing the glass to her lips. Zora drank greedily, water spilling down her chin in her eagerness. When the glass was empty, Trent refilled it and she drank that one too. By the third glass, her breathing had started to calm down and some color was returning to her cheeks.
