Henry POV

She looked down at her phone like she’d forgotten it was even there. “Oh. Right.”

She took her phone and scrolled through, and her face changed almost instantly.

Then the phone rang.

“Hi, Jackson,” she answered, a small smile forming on her lips.

Jackson. I remembered the name. I met him once. Tall, smug, lingering around her, the other day at the office.

I tightened my grip on the wheel trying to remain focused on driving.

“Yes… I’ll think about it and get back to you,” she said, then ended the call.

“What did he want?” I asked, trying to sound casual.

Just checking in,” she replied. “We went to school together. He’s an old classmate. I told you that.”

I raised a brow. “Since when do classmates you meet after so many years start calling out of nowhere?”

“He didn’t just call out of nowhere, Henry. We bumped into each other at the office a few weeks ago. I told you that.”

I kept my eyes on the road. “I remember. I also remember warning him.”

Gabriel POVShe deserved every word I uttered. All I want is for us to go back to the way we were...As I slid into the driver’s seat, I cast a glance at the back. Henry had dozed off, which was for the better. At least he wouldn't be asking about Camelia. With that, I pulled out of the hospital parking lot.We were only a few minutes into the drive when Henry stirred awake."Where is Camelia?" he asked groggily, while his eyes were scanning the car."Uh… she said she wanted to pick up a few things from the market," I lied."What?" he blurted out, jerking forward, then he winced in pain, clutching his sprained arm more carefully."Stop this car right now!"What the hell does he mean by that?"Gabriel, pull over. Right now!" he barked, louder this time.Startled, I hit the brakes and pulled over to the side of the road."Where did you say Camelia went again?""She said she wanted to stop by the market and would head home afterwards," I repeated, trying to keep my tone calm."Gabriel, r

Lydia's POV "Miss Camelia is inside, but I think you’ve gotten everything all mixed up." I turned around and saw Mrs. Raymond standing behind me. “Mother” "Do you have any idea what they might be talking about?” I asked, half-whispering. “We literally had breakfast together, Lydia. I’m as lost as you,” she replied. “Ma’am,” one of the officers interrupted, “we’d appreciate it if you didn’t obstruct our investigation.” “Obstruction?” I repeated, raising an eyebrow. “Of course not.” “Please, come inside,” I said quickly, ushering them into the house. “Camelia’s room is just upstairs. You can find her there.” As they ascended the stairs, my curiosity simmered just beneath the surface. I wanted this to be about Camelia. Something serious. Something that’ll put her in a big mess. But sooner or later, I’d know what exactly is going on. Camelia POV Most of my things had already been moved to a new room, just a few door down from Henry’s. He said he wanted me closer.

Henry’s POV “Die?” I repeated holding her hands as they were trembling. Yes,” she whispered through muffled sobs. “I saw someone die, Henry.” “Come here,” I said gently, stepping closer. She didn’t resist when I reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder. Her body trembled under my touch. “You’re okay now,” I murmured, guiding her to sit on the edge of her bed. “You’re safe.” She nodded faintly, hugging herself. “What exactly did you see?” I asked, lowering myself beside her. I…” she began, with her voice shaking. “I had just finished having my bath when I stepped to the balcony to get some air. I was looking at the flowers when I saw…. she paused letting out a loud sigh... across the way, on the opposite balcony… a man was stabbing a woman. He stabbed her multiple times, her voice cracked as covered her face with both hands. It just happened so fast,” she continued, trembling. “I was frozen. I couldn’t move. And then… he looked at me. His eyes met mine, and the

Lilly's POVDid I feel guilty after learning what really happened to Camelia? Yeah, a little. But guilt doesn’t erase the relief I felt when she left. She deserves a good life just not in ours.I slicked my hair into a tight ponytail, adjusted my shirt, slung my black bag over my shoulder, and headed out.“Lily,” my father called from downstairs.“I’m leaving now, Dad!” I shouted back as I descended the stairs.“You’re early today,” he said, glancing at the wall clock. “Had breakfast?”“Yeah I had toast and an omelet. Guess what?” I grinned. “I left some for you.”“That’s sweet of you,” he muttered, a tiny smile flickering across his lips. Then, as I reached for the door: “Have you heard from Camelia?”I froze in a heartbeat.“I tried calling,” he added. “Think she blocked me… That girl’s always been a handful.” He still cares about her, after everything that happened.“Dad, Camelia’s gone. And maybe that’s for the best. Not after what she put you through. She’s probably fine—aliv

Camelia's POV It felt like lightning had surged through my body, I could feel my heart beating fast in my chest, but I said nothing. My lips refused to move, and my voice was lost. I stood frozen in his arms until I heard Lydia's footsteps fading away. Then, as if I was waking from a trance, I gently pulled myself free. "Let me go," I whispered. Without waiting for a response, I turned and ran straight to my room, leaving Henry behind. “Did you get the water?” Grace asked me as I stumbled into the room. "Huh?" I blinked, breathless. "Are you okay? Your cheeks are flushed," she added, stepping forward. She raised her hand, likely to check my temperature. "Don’t bother," I said quickly, finding my voice. "I’ll just take a bath and head downstairs for breakfast." She didn’t argue, but lingered a moment, watching the stunned expression on my face. “I’ll make breakfast,” she muttered finally, then slipped out. I walked unsteadily to the bed and sat down gently, my hand
