POV(FREYA)

I woke up and Kai's heavy arm was resting on my waist. I was too angry to feel happy about it.

I tried to sit up but his arm was too strong and it pulled me back down.

"can't we just stay this way? For a while?"

His voice melted my heart but I still protested and tried to sit up, with a little grunt after some efforts to sit up. He made me turn to him and I stared into his metallic eye that seemed to see through me.

"What's wrong?" He asked, I just stared at him. Wondering if I should say what was on my mind or just pretend it's all fine like I've always done.

But his eyes made me want to tear up, his face. The same face I fell in love with, I just wanted to tell him everything that was wrong.

His hair was damp and he had a very unusual sweet scent coming from him, the scent from Bianca's child.

"Did you stay with Bianca's child the whole night?" His face told me he did but I wasn't willing to try further.

"Do you love me?" I knew it was a was a wierd question but it was something I needed to ask since I never saw the love I used to see in his eyes. The usual love that used to make my heart flutter but now it just felt like a plain cold look that could tear me apart.

"Why are you suddenly asking me that?" I wasn't surprised by his answer. This was his problem, he has never told me he loved me. Maybe in a casual way but not in a romantic way, it felt like I was the only one doing the loving in our marriage.

"Just answer me," I insisted and I saw a look on discomfort on his face and it somehow made me feel sad.

"Just tell me what's wrong Freya, I'm stressed out."

I was determined, maybe win his heart and make him change his mind about Bianca and her bastard.

"Can you Promise me you won't take Bianca back even if her child turns out to be yours?" I said and Kai's action shocked me to the core.

His face turned cold and he sat up immediately like I said a forbidden word.

"I have to get to work Freya," Kai avoided my question.

I hugged him from behind and rested my head on his back.

I was about to say something when his phone suddenly rang, Kai immediately pulled away and walked to the door when he saw the caller ID.

I couldn't hear what the person was telling him, he just responded with. "Okay" "are you sure?" "thank you"

His expression slowly shifted from a frown to a shocking expression.

"What's wrong? Is it a call at work?" I bombarded him with questions but Kai's expression was unchanging.

"Freya..., Liam is my child."

My heart sunk in, tears welled up in my eyes and I tried to force it back.

"Did the doctor confirm it? It might've been a mistake Kai. Maybe it got mixed up..." Kai smiled so hard and I just sat down and watched him go through his phone.

He dialled someone's number and the first word "Mom" made me sink into the bed. I hugged my knees and buried my head in it.

"No mum it's not Freya, actually it's Bianca... Just come over and I'll explain it all to you." Kai said before hanging up the call.

"Congratulations Kai... On your first child." I managed to mutter and Kai just gave me a small nod.

Kai's mom Arrived an hour later and I hurriedly rushed to welcome her. But the moment I tried to take her bag, she treated me like I was invisible.

"Where is my grandchild?" Mrs Seattle immediately hugged Bianca the moment she saw her and held Liam like an infant. Right there, Kai was standing with them, and they looked like one happy family.

I stood at the door and watched them, it was obvious. The kid is not Kai's child, but why does it seem like I'm the only one getting the hint that Bianca lied to us.

"This calls for a celebration! Kaiden what are you doing? Get me a champagne!" Mrs Seattle exclaimed and Kai rushed to get it like his life depended on it.

It was quite surprising how Mrs Seattle didn't even ask any questions regarding Bianca's sudden appearance with a child. It felt like she had been anticipating it, but I had no idea of what to think.

We settled for dinner and they chatted away without even looking at me, i felt invisible and lost.

"Kai isn't it time you make the Heir reveal?" The moment my mother in-law uttered that word, I coughed so hard and almost choked on the food I was eating.

The Heir reveal is like a ritual that every legitimate son of the Seattle's must partake in to be legible for a part in the will of Mr Seattle. This was like a dream come true for Kai since he was the only one without a child amongst his brothers and to add to his joy, he's the first to have a male child.

The Heir reveal is a party where important people are invited to welcome the child into the family and the child gets instant fame and gradually starts to grow the Family business on one hand. But the only problem with this is, the wife that gives birth to this child becomes the legal, original wife of the man. Which is an indirect threat to my position in Kai's home.

"Are you okay?" Kai patted me on my back and I pretended it was all fine and swallowed the steak in my mouth, "mom I don't think this is the time to talk about that." Mrs Seattle seemed displeased and I really wanted to leave but I didn't want to be rude.

"And besides, Bianca is not my wife anymore." Kai said and I was a bit relieved that Kai was finally making some sense.

"And so? What if she's not your wife? It doesn't matter as long as she bears your child. She is the one with your child Kaiden," Mrs Seattle wasn't going to let go easily.

"Uhmm, excuse me I have some important things to tend to," I lied and stood up immediately but I couldn't move an inch because of Mrs Seattle's terrifying glare.

"And this dinner is unimportant and irrelevant? What do you think we are doing here? Playing? This is also your problem. I can't believe Kai ended up with someone as rude as you, barren woman!"

"Mum!" Kai defended me and My blood boiled in rage with the word 'barren woman' but I kept my cool even though the tears threatened to fall.

"I will take my leave now," I excused myself and ran to my room shutting the door from the inside.

CHAPTER 043(THE MAN AT THE DOOR)POV (FREYA)The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, casting delicate lines across the bed where Eliza lay curled under layers of sheets. For once, her expression was peaceful. Almost childlike.I stood by the doorway with a tray of breakfast, unsure why my hands were trembling. Maybe it was the dream she’d had the night before the one that made her cry in her sleep, whispering something about a fox and someone taking it.“My little fox…” she had murmured.I didn’t wake her. I just sat there and watched her breathe. Now, as the steam from the tea drifted up toward my face, I forced a smile and stepped inside. “Good morning, Eliza.”Her lashes fluttered open slowly, eyes searching the room before landing on me. For a second, there was hesitation… then confusion… and then something close to joy.“Freya?”I set the tray down and moved to fluff her pillows. “You’re awake. I made breakfast.”She blinked. “You made me breakfast?”“Is that so

CHAPTER 042(LITTLE FOX)POV FREYAThe villa door clicked shut behind us.The silence was soft, almost too soft . the kind that makes your skin prickle with the leftover ghosts of laughter. The distant hum of the sea was the only sound between us now. Everything else , chandeliers, music, strangers with polished smiles , belonged to another universe.Eliza stumbled a little, heels in one hand, the other pressed dramatically against the wall.“I’m not drunk,” she muttered, smirking at no one in particular. “I’m just… relieved the rich still taste bland.”Alan opened his mouth like he wanted to respond, then thought better of it. He tossed his jacket over the arm of the couch and rubbed his temple.Eliza’s eyeliner had smudged at the corners, mascara dusting under her lashes like the echo of tears not yet shed.“I’ll take her,” I said gently. He glanced at me. “You don’t have to...”“I know,” I said, reaching for Eliza’s free arm. “Let me.”Eliza blinked at me, lips parted, eyes oddly g

CHAPTER 041 (WHAT WAS I THINKING?)POV (FREYA)The car ride was quiet.Too quiet.Alan sat behind the wheel, one hand on the steering, the other resting loosely on his knee. I sat in the passenger seat, fiddling with my necklace, trying not to think too hard about the night ahead. Eliza was in the backseat, her reflection occasionally catching in the rearview mirror, her lips painted that signature scarlet. No one spoke for a while. The silence had weight.Alan cleared his throat. "We won’t stay too long. Just a quick dinner, a few smiles. Then we leave.""I like dinner," Eliza said lightly, tapping her nails against the glass. "Especially when there are sharp knives nearby."My gaze snapped to the mirror. She was smiling. But there was nothing kind about it.Alan glanced at her briefly, his jaw tight. "Behave.""I always do, darling," she purred. The drive stretched on, the city lights blinking like secrets outside the window. When we pulled up in front of the grand estate, music sp

CHAPTER 040(A LITTLE BIT OF DRAMA AND US)POV(FREYA)The beach was warm, soft underfoot, the kind of sand that clung to your toes like silk. The breeze tasted like salt and sunshine. For the first time in days, there was no tension. Just laughter. We’d spent the afternoon swimming, laying under umbrellas, and tossing shells into the tide like children.Eliza was... different today.Lighter.She wore her hair in a thick braid that swept down her shoulder, sunglasses too big for her face, and a black two-piece that made half the men on the beach turn their heads, and the other half glance nervously at Alan when they saw her with him. We’d started a game, something silly Eliza suggested. Truths and dares, but not the childish kind. The real kind. Honest, open, and raw.Alan was laying back with his arms folded under his head, half-shielded from the sun, his hair wild with wind. Eliza sat beside him, legs curled beneath her like a cat.“I once slept in a train station bathroom,” Alan con

CHAPTER 039(THE WOMEN WE WERE)POV (FREYA)“Eliza, untie her,” I said. “Let her go.”Eliza blinked slowly. “You think she'll stop simply because you let her get free? What about revenge? What about everything they've done to you?”“I don’t care. I’m not going to be like them.”A pause. Then Eliza smirked.“Pity.”The screen went black.I stared at the dark reflection of myself on the screen, heart in my throat.POV (ELIZA)She didn’t say the words. She didn’t have to.I saw it in her eyes, the same thing I saw in my father’s when he told me not to shoot a man who had betrayed him.Mercy.The disease of soft women.I didn’t end the call immediately. I stared at Bianca for a long time, her makeup ruined, blood drying at the corners of her lips.“Freya’s not your prey anymore,” I murmured.“She’s stronger than you.”Bianca’s head drooped.I tapped the edge of my teacup, thoughtful. Then I whispered something to the man behind the camera. He nodded. And I stood, wiping my hands clean lik

CHAPTER 038(ANOTHER ONE?)POV (FREYA)The sound of the waves behind me dulled into a numb silence as I picked up my phone with trembling fingers, brushing off sand like it might erase what I just saw.No.No, no, no.I blinked hard, willing my eyes to have been wrong. But the message stared back at me like it was proud of what it had done.My heart thudded violently. Not from shock anymore, from dread.“Run to your little lover all you want. Let’s see what the world thinks of these.”Attached were the photos, twisted, digitally-altered, disgusting.I hadn’t taken these. I’d never...My breath hitched as I realized what he meant to do. He wanted to humiliate me. To destroy whatever piece of dignity I had managed to build for myself again.Kaiden, not Kaiden please.I turned and walked briskly back to the villa, holding my phone like it was radioactive. I barely made it to the dinner table before I excused myself with a fake smile and a mumbled, “I need to lie down.”Alan had looked up
