"Alvin," Emily said. Garrett had picked the name weeks ago, and she felt it suited their son perfectly.
"He certainly has a strong set of lungs," Lois laughed as baby Alvin stirred in his sleep and smacked his lips, showing his hunger. Lois reached out, picked him up, and handed him to Emily. "Feed him, please."
Emily grinned at her son, whose eyes were now open and gazing at her. She knew he couldn't see her clearly yet. She kissed his forehead and prepared to breastfeed him.
Lois left her alone, and a few minutes later, Garrett entered the room after Emily had finished breastfeeding Alvin. The baby was sleeping peacefully in her arms, and Emily smiled at Garrett, who looked immensely proud.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, sitting beside her after hugging her and kissing his son on the head.
"I'm great and happy," Emily replied.
"I can see that."
"How do you feel? I don't think there's a word that can truly explain how I feel right now," Emily said.
