Chapter 2

The pale crescent moon shone in brightly in the night sky. It was middle of the night and wind was blowing gently caressing the creatures still out and awake. It was not same for all though, some were deep asleep peacefully tucked in each their own bed and some lay wide awake.

Serena woke up in the middle of the night again, another one of her nightmares. She never seems to remember them and it was not odd because honestly people just do not remember all of their dreams. Since, trying to go back to sleep was futile Serena got off her bed to freshen up. She came and sat down on her bed in workout clothes with a novel in her hand. Only a few pages were left of the novel since it has been a few days since she has been reading this one. By the time she completed the novel, it was already 4 in the morning and it was time to head out for her run. She continued to think about the ending as she ran. The women in the novel, Emma had fell in love with the man Aabel, the man broke her heart and by the time he realized her value she was broken beyond repair and she wasn’t willing to forgive him in order to punish him, but it seemed like Emma never realized that she was making herself hurt more, but circumstances led to her dying in the end and professing her love to Aabel on her deathbed, it was a tragic end.

Even though Serena knew the writer did a splendid job conveying all the sentiments as she herself got emotional and cried at the end but she still doesn’t like the fact that the female protagonist was not willing to live happily. Serena meant, she got it if one wants to see the person who hurt them in misery but why must you implicate yourself in the dragged out process. She believed it would rather be better to fight till the end rather than a half assed attempt at anything when it is still in their hands. Serena soon completed her running and headed towards the training ground. As Serena reached there she saw her brother beckoning her over to where he and the alpha’s son Vante stood.

Damon continued discussing about Nagoka pack’s visit with Vante as he watched his little sister walking over to them. He had believed that he won’t be seeing her today.  “Will you be training someone today?” Damon asked Serena to confirm if she was here to train someone.

Serena gave a respectful nod to Vante as he was the future alpha before continuing to answer her brother. “Yes, I was thinking of training the new young females group, they have no idea how to defend themselves let alone fight, they are in a bad condition. I had to dismiss them after a few runs last time since it was their first day and also I had to take over for you too. Today they will know what training means.”  Her brother and Vante laughed as Vante kept his hand on Serena’s shoulder in a brotherly way or he would have his ass handed to him on a silver platter and said “Go easy on them will you? Pity they have no idea what is coming for them. To wonder they think they will be getting it easy since a female is training them. It will be harder for them even in comparison to the males. I can feel their pain but I guess it is worth it in the end.” Damon snickered at that and Serena couldn’t take the fact that they are showing pity to those females like they were getting the devil. So she said in a teasing manner “Why don’t we all have a fight in the end? We haven’t had a one on one for a long time.” They both shook their head very fast and dispersed even faster after making some lame ass excuses. Now who was a pussy? Serena thought smirking.

Serena came back home from training earlier than her brother since she had to let her group go as they had literally started groaning mid training and since it was only their second day she had decided to be a little lenient. Serena at this moment realized that her life has been normal for as long as she can remember, except a few bad experiences. A bad thought occurred in her mind ‘almost like her life up till now was the calm before the storm’ a frown appeared on Serena’s face displaying the emotions that were brought forth with the almost ominous thought.

She took a quick bath to get rid of the grime and smell, before eating a very little amount of breakfast to pacify her mother and ran out hopping into her car at lightning speed as she had to meet her friend Kylie and was already late for which she would be probably hearing of for about a year. Serena sprinted into the café and waved at her friend who waved back enthusiastically, excited and hyper for unknown reason, a reason Serena is going to find out about soon.

 Serena took the seat in front of Kylie and even before her ass touched the chair Kylie started squealing, yes squealing like a little child, Serena shook her head at Kylie’s antics but her energy filled nature finally got Serena’s day started on a more energetic foot. “You won’t believe what happened, my sister found her mate and he is a warrior from your pack.” Both Serena and Kylie were in different packs, they met in high school, going in human school and all led them both to get on pretty fast and since their packs already had a treaty so nothing coming in between both girls friendship, Serena found it was pretty easy to get along with Kylie and coincidentally she is a beta’s daughter too. Both packs are joined by a little bit of the border areas so it was hard to go at each other’s throat without a lot of loss so they compromised and it turned into a long term treaty and friendship between the packs, as far as friendship can go in between two packs anyway. They are on neutral ground right now, it is not owned by any pack and so it is easier to meet here. “Wow, she just turned 18, right?” She questioned in a ‘so soon’ tone. Wolf’s can find their mates starting at their 18 birthdays, but we both still haven’t. Kylie nodded, “Yes!! That lucky bitch I tell you. But I am happy for her” and answered.

“What? No, she is still young and finding her mate so soon, she hasn’t even done anything yet, it’s too soon.” Both of them did have different thoughts when it came to mates though.

“What have we done even when we haven’t found our mates?” Kylie quirked a brow up as she questioned. Serena is not sure what she is supposed to say to something like that, it’s true but not completely as it turned out.  “We are furthering our studies and mind you we are still humans.” Kylie again nodded in agreement and continued with what was on her mind with a smile. “Well, whenever we find our mates, I just wish we get to be in the same pack” Serena made an o with her mouth as if wondering. She knew she will probably be going to get hit for what she is about to say. “Be aware what you wish for, I still want to live. Spare me Madame.”  She said in a dramatic way. At that moment the waitress came over to take the order unaware how she saved the innocent girl from being murdered, Serena looked across the table to see Kylie throwing a scary glare at her and her being her she acted like she shivered out of fear at that making Kylie throw another chaff glare. Kylie ordered her favourite nutella cheesecake and Americano and Serena ordered some waffles and coffee. “OH! I remembered something with cheesecake. Only 6 days to go till my birthday, come over to my pack for the day and also you can sleepover” Serena asked her with hopeful eyes. “I will come but what about your pack? I am worried if it will be alright for you.” she spoke as she looked back up at Serena.   “I will ask them, Kai, you are coming. Come on, you won’t leave me alone like that, will you.” Serena made puppy dog eyes with a small pout urging her to agree.   “I will come! Dramatic much!!” Kylie laughed at Serena’s silliness. The rest of the day flew away for Serena as nothing much happened.

The rest of the days were pretty much boring. Until, only two days were left till Serena’s birthday and Nagoka packs arrival. Serena asked her father Jeremiah, the beta, permission to have Kylie over and he confirmed it was no big deal and Kylie can come over. Serena was busy the rest of the days helping the pack in preparations for the arrival of the nagoka pack, there is a rumor that the alpha is related to the royals. How, is something not just anyone can know?  The pack Serena belonged to, the Cruento pack considered themselves lucky that the Nagoka agreed, they are enigmatic, people do not know much about that pack not even the name of the Alpha and Luna, except the fact that they are dangerous and ruthless, specifically their Alpha. So everything needed to be perfect. Serena just wished the old alpha is not as bad as he used to be in his youth, Ughh. Quite a name they got there though, Nagoka.

Serena was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t realize that the Luna had been calling her over for some time now. An omega named Mina literally had to shake Serena out of her reverie. Serena walked over to the Luna, Maria and helped her with what she needed. By the end of the day, everything was done. And Serena headed home drop dead tried and irriguous. Her stomach grumbled making her realize that she had skipped meals today. Done with bathing and eating, she went straight to bed.
