Chapter 3 - Hiding in the woods!

Five Hunters came running to the woods wearing black clothes and carrying heavy weapons!

All the boys hid in the basement alone with Nyla whereas Ronan stood strong at the entrance, guarding the door.

Nyla's mind was confused, everything happened so fast that she didn't get the chance to understand the seriousness of the situation!

"Why are we hiding?" she asked.

Jax realized that she is the only clueless one among them.

"We're hiding from hunters" his answer made everything more complicated for Nyla's understanding and so she interrupted the silence again "what do you mean by that?" Jax looked at her and a heavy sigh left his mouth.

"They hunt wolves and since we're living here in secret, Ronan don't want them to find us" This time Nyla understood the situation to a certain point.

"Nyla, you never heard of hunters before?" kai asked with curiosity and the answer to his question was simple for Nyla, she smiled and said in her soft voice "I never heard of them neither I knew anything about wolves until last night when I encountered one for the first time" All the boys looked at Nyla with concern as if they can sympathize with her fear.

"Was that wolf scary?" Luka asked in his trembling voice, Nyla took a deep breath and explained to him "his teeth were long and his eyes were red, I was very scared of his huge body but for some reason, he ran away when your brother opened the door for me!" A strange smile appeared on Jax's lips as if he already knew the reason for that wolf's abandonment of prey.

"Our brother is scary and that's why no one messes with him," Sean explained the wolf's strange behavior, and Nyla somewhat agreed with his statement.

"How old are all of you?" Nyla asked with a warm smile on her lips.

"Jax is 400, Sean is 500, Luka is 600, I am 700 and Ronan is 900 years old" kai's words made Nyla laugh out loud.

"You don't believe us?" Sean asked.

Nyla stopped laughing and said, "I believe you and since you all are older than me, how should I address you guys?" Nyla was playing their game but little did she know their words were true.

"You can call us brothers," Jax said with excitement while the others fixed their eyes at Nyla to hear her answer.

"Okay, from now on you all are my brothers" Nyla's words made everyone happy as if it was the best thing that ever happened to them!

"We never had any chat with humans, you're amazing Nyla," Luka said as his eyes shined brightly.

"Why are you guys living in the middle of the forest and not in the main town?" Her question threw silence in the entire basement, no one was ready to answer this time and the excitement from before was all gone.

Nyla sensed the tension in the air and willingly changed the topic "okay, tell me what do you like to eat the most?"

As the topic changed they all went back to their chaotic self and the conversation about food brightened up their faces.

"I like tigers," Sean said as he explained the taste of tigers and his mouth started drooling.

Nyla saw them as weird and interesting kids but her mind was far from the truth!

After a long hour, the door of the basement finally opened.

"Come out, everyone!" Ronan commanded in his deep voice and all the boys followed him as if he was their leader.

Ronan stood in front of Nyla and their eyes made a tense eye-contact!

Breaking the silence between them Nyla asked "can I use your phone, I need to talk to my aunt" A smirk appeared on Ronan's lips and he explained "we don't use a phone as you can see we live in the middle of the woods without network!" His words put Nyla in a difficult position and her mind started worrying about the outcomes of her Aunt's wrath.

"WHO LIVES WITHOUT A PHONE?" Nyla shouted the words and made Ronan frown "Leave if you don't like it here!" his words threw sharp daggers into Nyla's heart and her ego came in the middle of their conversation which made her take the wrong path "Fine! I am leaving!" has said that, Nyla left.

As soon as she came outside, her mind started to regret the decision and the fear from last night crawled up her heart.

"Why did I get angry!" She murmured as deep guilt started consuming her, left with no choice she decided to face her fear and kept on moving.

The more she was going inside the deep woods the more her heart was beating fast, her eyes noticed the paws mark in the mud from last night and goosebumps filled her body!

The white fog slowly covered the bright shining sun and Nyla started to lose vision in the forest.

Suddenly, her feet stopped as if she lost the courage to move forward, hiding behind a tree and tears rolled down from her eyes!

As she was hiding behind the tree, sweat covered her forehead and her body started shivering.

Hardly breathing Nyla was about to lose hope when a strange groan echoed in the entire forest exactly the same as last night.

The moment that groan reached Nyla's ears, she knew she was trapped and only a dead end was awaiting in the future!

Closing her wrist tightly, Nyla started praying for her life but the sound of footsteps were coming to her direction as if her smell was giving an invitation to the beast.

"I don't want to die" Nyla whispered making sure her voice doesn't attract any danger but everything was going against her when the wolf from last night found his way back to Nyla.

Nyla's eyes widened and her heart lost all hope of survival, she closed her eyes as if her body gave up in front of the wolf.

The wolf started taking steps toward her and Nyla's ears could hear the noise of his paws but the sound of his paws suppressed midway. Scared Nyla became curious and slowly opened her eyes only to see Ronan standing in front of her!
