Antonio swirled the wheel roughly to the side of the road, and the drive came to an abrupt stop. He turned sharply to Eloise, his brow deeply furrowed, his fist tightly clenched and his heart felt a hard stab.

“ Eloise,” he called, not calmly, nor harshly.

She opened her eyes and looked at him. They held no defiance, no fire, just exhaustion. Raw with deep pain and stabbed right into his chest. His lips parted, and for the first time since his parents' death, his hand trembled.

She had the same look his mother once wore. That look that says—I tried, I really tried, but it's over.

He gritted his teeth and stepped out of the car, slammed the door shut, and went to her side. He opened the door and unhooked her belt before pulling her out of the car and closing the door behind her.

She has her head down, tears streaming out of her eyes.

‘ Stop, stop crying,’ he wanted to say but instead, he clenched his fist harder, his nails digging into his palm.

He gritted his teeth.

Mr. Luther licked his lips lustfully with his eyes glued to Eloise, he wasn't just staring, he was devouring every part of her body with his eyes. Waiting patiently at the lounge, he had an appointment with the CEO, but was told he was currently having a meeting with another person, so he had to wait. At first, the idea of waiting pissed him off, but not until he set his eyes on her. He had narrowed his brow at her at first as he found her so familiar. But there's no way he'd have come across such beauty and not remember. Mr Luther is a man in his late forties –maybe fifties if the stress lines were counted and dressed like the boardroom owned him rent. Eloise, whom he was ogling, was standing by the printing machine, lost in thought. She couldn't take her mind off what had happened earlier. ‘ Just who have I struck a deal with?’ She thought rhetorically, seeing the way he was so relaxed about someone's attempt to take his life. She sighed deeply unable to shake it off. The sar

Laera's eyes followed him as he walked past her desk while Eloise stopped before her. “ Good morning, Laera,” Eloise greeted, smiling. Without responding, Laera grabbed her arm, eyes tracking the direction he had gone. “ Who's that, Eloise?” she quickly asked. Eloise trailed her gaze, “ Oh,” she looked away and dropped her bag on the table, “ That's Antonio Brayden.” “ Woah! He's insanely hot,” she cooed clasping her hands together, “ You say?” Eloise asked like she had heard wrong. The name tugged at Laera and her blushing face vanished, replaced with an unhinged jaw. “ Antonio? The boss?” “ Hm, the boss,” Eloise emphasized to snap her out of whatever fantasy she was having, “ The same cold, aloof, so-called devil. Your brutal rival?” “ Hm,” Eloise nodded with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. “ Woah!” She collapsed back into her seat. The shock didn't settle for long when a huge smile crept onto a face, “ No…wonder…,” she drawled. Eloise was grabbing her

Eloise’s stomach growled loud enough to echo through the quiet apartment as she shuffled toward the kitchen, one hand pressed over the rumbling. She hadn’t eaten since breakfast yesterday, and the ache sharpened her focus. Every step dragged like a mile, but she kept moving—driven by the hope of food. “Should’ve answered his damn text last night,” she muttered in regret as she reached the fridge like it was the gates of heaven. Her fingers curled around the handle, hopefully, as she tugged it open. Crepes. Greek yogurt. Fresh berries. Honey. Salvation. Her breath hitched—joy blooming in her chest like warmth on a freezing day. She grabbed the crepes, reheated them, slapped on the toppings in a rush, then pulled up a stool and dug in. “Mmm,” she moaned, her tongue savoring the sweet tang of the berries against the creamy yogurt. Then—click. The door opened, and the familiar beep of the security code was followed by the soft thud of it closing again. Antonio. He walked

The sky outside was beginning to pale with the first hint of dawn when Antonio stirred. Blinking the sleep from his eyes, he looked down at the woman nestled against him. She was sleeping peacefully, her breathing even and soft, like a child in the arms of safety. A faint smile tugged at his lips. Her skin felt like silk beneath his palm, her slender frame curling instinctively into him. She looked so innocent like this—serene, untouched by pain. Yet, he remembered her tears, cries, the storm of hurt hidden behind those fierce eyes. And something twisted inside him—a need, fierce and unfamiliar, to protect her. Antonio followed the instinct of his fingers that brushed the strands of her hair off her face. She looks so beautiful, so peaceful—soft, like an angel in slumber, like one who never gets upset. His smile broadened upon remembering her angry, cute faces, but his face dropped when he also recollected the pains, the fears on her face, and her cries. It was strange, it was un

Antonio stared into her captivating emerald eyes. ‘ Beautiful,’ he thought before his gaze fell on her lips and a soft exhale escaped his lips. Pink, lush, and so inviting. His fingers ached to touch them, feel them against his thumb. But something aches for more. His lips. They ached for a taste, to know what they feel like. He saw from her throat, her gulp, and he smiled. “ Too bad, I'm not in the mood to break rules,” he muttered with a smirk. Eloise returned with a similar smirk. She blinked her eyes softly and said, “Too bad, you ain't my type to break rules with.” With that she pushed him off her and sat up, rolling her eyes and looking away from him. Antonio grinned. A fast one that Eloise missed as she was looking away, and then, the car started moving again. “ So you don't wanna break rules with me?” “ You're not my type,” “ Really? Why don't I believe that, I'm every woman's type.” Eloise scoffed. She turned to him in disbelief, his overconfidence tugg
