Ch.7: Muzzled

I glanced over my shoulder and saw Pete peeking over it.

He genuinely looked afraid.

"You good?" I asked, facing him, curious as to why he was scared of this wolf-dog who was kenneled and muzzled.

He nodded quickly, though he seemed to have a hard time finding his voice. "Yep." He squeaked.

"Hmm." I studied him a moment longer before turning back to the growling wolf-dog. "You, be nice." I told him sternly.

Those intense and intelligent eyes made contact with mine. I couldn't explain it, but it felt like he not only understood me but could see straight to my soul with those damn eyes. With a disgruntled groan, he stopped and laid down with a big huff.

Interesting. Such personality I hadn't ever seen in a dog before.

"Well, I think I'll just head on out." Pete stated, turning to leave.

“I owe you lunch. Why not stay and eat?”

"I can take a rain check for lunch." He stated, slowly backing away from the kennel. It was like he was scared to turn his back on the creature.
