Chapter 3:

Emma dreaded inwardly, but she managed to keep her posture straight. "Why would I want to play a game with you?"

His eye lids flicked rather dangerously, "It’s a marriage game, we get married, and act like a couple, first person to fall in love loses, in this game, we advance by getting power points, and different levels."

Emma sneered. Marriage game? Who was this guy to endlessly joke about love, like it was some piece of cake?; "Thank you, but, I am not interested in your pathetic games, I have a life to live."

He leaned on the chair, his eyes growling lazily, all his elder brothers were married, and if he didn’t get married anytime soon, his mother would push a lady to him, what was more fun than getting married to someone who shared the same interest as you?

"Think this through." Damn. He only needed a way to convince her that was all he needed.

"I won’t," Emma grabbed her hand, but he hauled her back to the chair.

“Don’t go,” he sounded rather in need, than in an excitement to play a game. His voice grew hazy. "Think, your mother wants you married; we are both CEO of game companies, and what else? we would act as if we are a couple, you could act as my wife, it’s just a game."

She thought deeply, her eyes flashing as she tilted her head to a corner, a game? Just a game? Ever since little, she had always had to itch to participate in games, and win, he was proposing a game to her.

"What happens to the loser?"

"I don’t know yet, will think of something. I am asking you again, Miss. Emma, do you want to play this game with me?"

She shut her eye lids.

Say yes. Yes, yes, yes, she was going to play the damn game.

“I will agree.” His heart leapt. "Only if I don’t perform the martial duties."

He thought for a while. "Deal," Who cared about duties anyways?

And, that’s was it. The CEO of the best flourishing companies had agreed to play a game, not a mobile game, not a game of hid and seek, but, a game of love. A game of marriage.

She hauled her bag. "I will see you later," she stood up. "Hubby,"

She left, he stared for a brief moment, his lips forming into a smile. Hubby? That felt good, really good.

-

Three weeks later,

Emma’s hand screeched on the keyboard, as her hands typed professionally on the keyboard, her office was wide, with streaks of white and plain red, posters of anime and games cemented on the wall, making it look more of a hangout room, than an office. A CEO chair, a grand table, a mug of hot cocoa, what else?

She sighed, her hands grabbing the cocoa placed n the table, and in a fit, she gulped it down hurriedly.

"Emma!" A voice was heard, nearly angrily.

Emma shrieked, why now?

The door lunged opened immediately, and a middle aged woman walked in, her appearance emitting anger, her face was good looking, and she held her aura with so much pride, that Emma doubted, if that was really her mother.

"Mother." She did a curt bow, and even though she didn’t wanted to say it, the words flew from her lips. "Why are you here?"

The woman’s eyes seemed to have doubled with anger, as she stared at her daughter. "I hadn’t expect you to be so rude to your mother, you neither answered my calls, and guess what, I haven’t seen you for the past three weeks." Her mother took a seat.

Her lips clicked together into an ‘o’, but she managed to smile weakly. "I love you mother, I would never ditch you." the words came out forced, with a gnashed teeth and a straight face.

Sadie folded her arms. "No blind date for you, ever since the last one, I think you would actually kill the next one, so please." Her mother relaxed, heaving a sigh. "It’s better you die single,"

Emma rolled her eyes playfully, suddenly, an image of Jeremy appearing in her head, she had last saw him, talked to him, three weeks ago, it wouldn’t be bad to bring up his topic? They were still playing the game, right?

"Mother. I already have someone in mind." She giggled, if she acted like someone in love, her mother would leave her alone and move to her twin brother, to her, it sounded like an absolute plan that would work.

The woman squinted her eyes, peering at her daughter, her daughter? In love? It sounded rather absurd, she didn’t trust her one bit, her own daughter was scheming, dangerous and quick witted. There was something wrong somewhere.

"You already love someone?" Her lips had tensed up, as it quivered slightly.

Emma grasped the cup of cocoa, and lifted it to her lips, smiling into the cup. "Did you expect me to die single?" She rolled her eye lids. "Don’t you think your daughter is capable of loving someone?"

Sadie sighed, her shoulders dropping.

"That’s not what I meant, it’s just that, everything is just so tensed up, when am I going to meet him?"

Emma bit her lips now that would be the problem, the same guy that shad slapped was the same guy she was going to introduce to her mother, that didn’t sounded right.

"You will meet him soon," She blinked shyly, if she was going to make her mother believe she was in love, she may as well act as someone who was floating in love.

Sadie sighed, seeming not to believe her daughter, but anyway, she smiled. "Alright, bring him over for dinner, I am sure your sister Sabrina will love to meet him," She stood up. "We will talk later," She sauntered towards the direction of the door and left.

Talk later? Her mother only used that Dreadful word in such an occasion when she found out her children were lying.

Why was pretending to be married suddenly became this hard, if she was going to survive this game, she had to level her power points.

Jeremy. She thought. She was going to have some fun, time to get some power points.
