Cathy realized belatedly that she shouldn’t have revealed that because his grin disappeared in a second. But she hadn’t wanted him to go and had just blurted it out, too bad she couldn’t swallow it now.

“What?” Ted intoned incredulously.

She didn’t look away from his eyes. She was a wolf and as such shouldn’t have such a foolish defect that humans were prone to. But the moon goddess, tricky as ever had somehow cursed her with infertility. Cathy didn’t look away even though she was embarrassed by her failure but the last thing she wanted was to make him see that. So she pasted a smile on her face and urged him to come closer.

“That’s an advantage, Ted. You don’t have to worry.”

But he didn’t budge. Unavoidably that pitiful look came into his eyes dampening her pleasure.

Cathy groaned and gave up trying to pull him back to her. If that was enough to make him go soft then Chase was right, he wasn’t worth her time and effort.
