Shannon’s POVI wished I could’ve talked to my mother about what I should do about the voices in my head, she always knew how to calm me down and make me see reason but she wasn’t here and I didn’t want to ruin whatever she was up to with Alpha Robin. If she got wind of how unsettled I was, she would be on the next flight back home and I didn’t want that to happen. I’m sure she was of great use to Alpha Robin and that was why he took her along on this trip I didn’t want to interfere which meant that I had to deal with this situation by myself. I decided to lay out all my options on the table and start from the top. Ricky had told me what he wanted and his brothers wanted the same as well, they wanted me docile and meek, they were scared of me being loud and showing off, and they didn’t want the attention that would come with it as it would ruin their chances and they didn’t want that to happen anymore despite not caring up until three days ago. I tried to relate it to my current si
Shannon’s POVThey didn’t look particularly pleased with what I had just said but I didn’t care. If this was going to work, I had to be in charge of it and even if I was to share duties with them, I had to wield a reasonable amount of control. “You’re reaching now, Shannon.” Ricky began. He had a frown on his face which matched the ones on his brothers’ faces as well. “The fact that we’re committed to making this work doesn’t mean you can ridicule us, do you understand?” “You’re getting it all wrong, Ricky.” I tried to explain. “If I had any intention of playing you for a fool, I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t have sent you a message last night trying to talk to you either.” “You just made mention of us playing by your rules, Shannon,” Ricky said. “These are your words, not mine, you said them.” “It’s understandable if you still harbor resentment towards us, Shannon.” Cole cleared his throat as he addressed me. “We have no arguments there but it would be better if you can hold off yo
Shannon’s POV“Is that all?” Ricky asked me and I hesitated for a moment before answering. I didn’t see the need to inform him that the main reason that I wanted to talk to him personally was because I wanted to scrutinize him. I already had run-ins with Cole and Jules on multiple occasions and I hadn’t had any close encounters with Ricky yet. I wanted to see if he was any different from his brothers or if they were cut from the same cloth. I didn’t want to get my hopes up but I wasn’t particularly confident about the chances of him being different. “Yes, that’s all.” I nodded. “Is there anything else you want to ask, I’m open to more questions if you’ve got any.” “I don’t,” Ricky nodded and pushed himself to sit upright. “Let’s get right into what we’re meant to discuss.”“I hope you don’t call me crazy but I need you to listen to me first,” I began, forcing Ricky to look at me like I was about to drop a bombshell. “Now that it’s been decided that we’re mates and there’s going t
Shannon’s POVBe careful. My wolf’s words rang in my head nearly every hour and I hated the fact that he had made me worried about something insignificant at this point or was it significant and I was only trying to downplay its potential impact? While I understood his concern and newfound reaction toward me, I would’ve loved it if he had given me a heads-up before he decided on this extravagant setting that I didn’t necessarily have any use for. I’ve always been simple at heart. I knew that he had been taking care of me and looking out for me at the same time but I could handle myself. I’ve always looked out for myself and I’ve always kept my head above water despite how timid I may look. I knew that his major concern was about his father and I understood that. Despite what we had going on together, whatever we might decide to term it, I knew we both still had a long way to go in convincing his father that this was real and not something we made up to reap the benefits and call it q
Shannon’s POV“So I’m guessing you’re going on vacation with your mates then?” Emma asked me as she took a sip from her glass of wine. “I haven’t made a decision yet, Emma.” I shrugged. “I’m still unsure if I should accept his offer or not.”“You’re being serious or you’re trying to be your usual sarcastic self as usual?” Emma asked as she stared at me like I had grown a second head.I let out a sigh as I dragged my eyes away from her intense stare. To the outside world, there couldn’t be anything better than going on a vacation with the Mayert triplets but I was looking past that and at the future. Ricky was proving to be different from his brothers but I wasn’t entirely convinced yet and there was a slightly niggling feeling at the back of my mind that he was doing more than he ought to.“I’m being honest about how I feel at the moment, Emma,” I said. “I’m not trying to be sarcastic or be funny at all, trust me. I have fears and they’re very valid.” “What’s there not to like about
Shannon’s POV“Is there anything that we haven’t covered yet?” Ricky asked me as we stood outside the front door, waiting to receive Alpha Robin and my mother who had announced their arrival last night.“I don’t think so, Ricky,” I answered. “We’ve gone over this sequence several times in the past couple of hours, I can now repeat your exact words from my memory. I don’t think there’s anything left to say, I assure you.” Ever since we got the news that Alpha Robin would be coming home, Ricky and his brothers had been putting in all efforts to make sure that their record was spotless, they didn’t want anything out of place so they spent the entire night trying to close every deal or spillage of work that they hadn’t settled yet. Despite how many times I assured them that their father wasn’t expecting them to be perfect, it had fallen on deaf ears and they kept on at it until they were satisfied with themselves when that was over, they made their way to my room, nearly forcing the door
Shannon’s POVI carefully watched Alpha Robin’s face as he processed everything we had said. He seemed to be lost in thought and at the same time, I could see the excitement on his face as well.It was like he was confused about what opinion to ride with, hence the obvious confusion. “Well, I don’t think—“ He began but my mother cut him short.“You just came back from your trip to the best news you’ve gotten in a long, long time, Robin.” My mother began as she placed a hand on his arm, forcing him to look at her. “The last thing you want is to ruin this moment with your questions.” “I know,” Alpha Robin began. “It’s just that—““We can do this over breakfast,” My mother patted his arm as she pulled him away. “Come on, let’s head inside. Our children have finally decided to do right by themselves, it calls for celebration not questioning.” I let out a huge sigh of relief as I watched on as my mother pulled him away before giving me a curt nod as they made their way into the mansion.
Ricky’s POVThe next couple of days had gone by without any problems. Me and my brothers’ relationship with Shannon had gotten better and we seemed to understand each other better now. I could now see why she had been adamant in fostering the connection we were supposed to have from the start. It had begun to yield fruits as my father had grown less suspicious of us as the days went by. My brothers had played their part to the fullest and Shannon had been the most impressive amongst us all. She sold her character so well that it was difficult for me to figure out if she was being overzealous or if this was her true self. My father had also begun to trust me and my brothers with more than enough information now that it was clear we had accepted the mantle of leadership that was always destined for us. Under my father’s directive, we had also stepped up our plans on how to capture Fergus Black, a pain in our backside, before he got news of the plans and escaped like he had often done.
