Xithara's POV

The sharp kick to my side caused a gasp to escape my mouth as blood spilled out of my mouth in violent coughs.

The whip to my back reawakened my already dulling senses.

"Please……please just let me speak to the Alpha one last time, I'm begging you please." I pleaded weakly, somehow gathering enough strength to say the words as I laid limp on the cold and dirty floor of the dungeon, bleeding profusely.

A kick to the side of my head snapped my neck sideways, causing another wave of pain to hit me, one that made me scream out even though I had no strength left.

"Shut up you ungrateful pig, you have no right to ask for favors. I feel disgusted just having to come in contact with you so just hurry up and die already. I almost can't wait for the time of the execution to arrive so it'll finally be good riddance to you.

My patience will pay off soon, two more hours and an evil such as yourself will finally be gone from this world." The guard mocked and gave me one last lash on my back before spitting on me and walking towards the dungeon door.

I felt something drip down my face and I needed no soothsayer to know that it was blood. My vision was becoming blurrier by the minute, a sign that I would be leaving this world soon, finally.

Too long have I been made to suffer unjustly, I can finally find peace away from this wicked world and all the accusations.

To think that I'm the Luna of this pack and I'm being treated in this manner. No cross that, ex Luna now.

A mock smile stretches the edges of my lips as another teardrop falls.

If I'm somehow able to survive till the two hour period, I'll face certain death. I have no idea how I've survived all this time, despite the torture but in two hours, I'll be executed in front of the entire pack. Pretty sad.

As I painfully wait for my dismal fate, I can't help but ask myself, how did it come to this? All I had ever done was be good to people. I went out of my way to please others and put everyone else's interest before my own. Was that such a bad thing? Was it crime enough for me to meet such a despicable end?

The dungeon door rattles again but I don't even have the strength to flinch. He might as well just end it here, I don't want to care anymore.

I hear footsteps, the unmistakable sound of heels as someone approaches me.

I blink repeatedly in an attempt to clear my vision. Still limp on the floor, I gaze at the feet of the person approaching and realize that she's wearing my shoes.

All my lost hope suddenly returns as I quickly realize who it is. With great difficulty, I manage to gather what strength I have left and sit up, finally coming face to face with my very own twin sister, Xianna.

My eyes widen in shock as I realize that she's wearing my wedding dress, the same dress I had worn during my mating ceremony.

Taking a good look at her, everything she's wearing belongs to me. But that's the least of my problems at the moment as I consider her my last hope.

I crawl towards her and hold out my hand, hoping she would help me.

She smiles but doesn't make a move.

"Xianna." I call out hoarsely, my throat as dry as bricks.

She seems to hesitate but finally approaches me, helping up. She helps me to a corner of the dungeon, placing my back to rest on the wall for support.

"I'm sorry Xithara, that you're having to go through all this." She apologizes and I see tears gather at her eyes which instantly makes me anxious despite the pain I'm feeling.

I hate to see her cry more than anything.

I stretch out my hand and caress her cheek gently.

"Please don't cry Xianna and don't apologise, none of this is your fault. I'm just unfortunate, cursed with this ill fate." I tried to comfort her and she managed a small smile.

"I tried to talk to the Alpha, I really did but he wouldn't listen. He's not listening to anyone and he even threatened to have me banished from the Pack if I tried to intervene. I'm sorry sis, I really am, I've failed you." She said as a single tear fell down her cheek.

"Stop it Xianna, you know how seeing you cry makes me feel. I know that you tried your best but it's really out of our hands if that's how fate wants it. I just want you to promise me that you won't be sad for too long and that you'll live your best life after I'm gone." I requested.

"I promise that I'll live each day to the fullest after you're gone." She said, and something about her tone sounded sinister.

I waved it off, thinking that the fear of death was beginning to mess with my senses.

"Sis, I have something to share with you. It's good news and I know that now's a bad time but I'll never be able to tell you again after today and I've waited so long just to reveal this." She said, instantly piquing my interest.

She said she wasn't able to convince Keith to stop my execution so what could possibly count as good news at a time like this?

"Don't keep me waiting and spit it out already." I urged, trying to pull on a smile.

"I'm pregnant, Xithara. You're going to be an aunt." She revealed and my jaw dropped in shock.

Despite that being the last thing I expected to hear, I couldn't hold back my happiness.

But my joy was instantly cut short when reality hit me again. I'll die today and that means I'll never get to see or hold my nephew or niece despite how much I love babies and have wanted a child for so long.

Once again, fate has played another cruel joke on me. But I won't display my sadness since it'll make Xianna worried. She's pregnant so she only needs to be happy till she gives birth.

"Congratulations Xianna, I'm so happy for you. You're going to have a little baby running around soon." I congratulated with a smile, biting on my lip to hold back my tears.

"Thanks sis, I was really nervous after finding out but seeing you this happy brings joy to me." She said with a smile.

"Don't mind me asking but who's child is it? You're not mated yet and you don't have any boyfriend that I know of so who's the lucky father?" I questioned.

"He's actually someone you know very well, someone close to the both of us." She replied evasively.

"Stop speaking in riddles and just tell me already. Who's the lucky man who was able to capture the heart of my beautiful sister?" I asked with a small smile.

"Well, if you must know, the father of my child is Alpha Keith, your husband." She finally dropped the bombshell.
