Chapter 2: The Assignment

Devon's office smells like cherry blossoms. He even had a cherry blossom bonsai in the left side of his table where he displays his pen as he sat and his chin resting on his fist. Yomiel and Reagan sat on the sofa in front of Devon's table.

"The folder on the table in front of you contains your new assignment which is investigating a multiple murder case in a night on a bar." Devon told them as he observed their reaction.

Yomiel nodded as he picked up the white folder and there, he saw the pictures of the victims. There are total of four victims. Their heads were leaning on the table as if they were asleep. Reagan leaned over Yomiel's shoulder and picked up the pictures on the folder as Yomiel looked at the profiles of each of the victims.

"The victims were friends and the curly haired kid was the younger brother of the condominium owner where you currently live, Yomiel. His sister will arrive here later on to talk to you about this, that is what she said. This murder case was quite hard as no one seemed to have guts against the youngsters, they were friendly after all based on their school records. Also, they are Taekwondo black belters, I don't thing Taekwondo people likes to fight at all.. They had high performance on school and no one sees anyone to be a potential suspect. Their body looked like they were asleep but their necks were actually sliced and the cause of death was blood loss." Devon explained to them as he fixed his eyeglass.

“Can you even drain blood on the neck?” Reagan frowned as he keeps on looking on each of the pictures.

"Where's the blood? The crime scene looks neat after all. As if the culprits could clean a lot of blood in an instant. Not to mention there are a lot of people on that club. It's quite suspicious that no one would notice that these teens were being murdered." Yomiel explained as he rubbed his chin while he was reading the documents and other crime pictures.

“Maybe they used a bag? As if vampires were real or those Chupacabra. What kind of a Chupacabra would even go on a bar?” Reagan said jokingly.

There was an awkward silence after what he said.

Meanwhile, Reagan started reading the details about the victims.

"Well, maybe they put it on a sack.... like a plastic one. Illegal blood selling is a trend these days. Last time we busted a group of people who had a farm of blood by locking men, women, and children on a village right? Maybe we weren't able to catch all the culprits and now they're doing it again. But this time, on a bar. We should talk to the manager of the bar." Reagan suggested.

"By the way, where are the bodies at right now? They died last night, right?" Yomiel asked his dad.

"The funeral where most dead bodies in this city were sent. People these days are scared of funeral service. As usual, you can find them on the Fyuneral Services near Chima Town." Devon replied.

"You're right, it could be. So, the bar's name is "This is a bar" eh? It's giving me double meanings.” He frowned as he was reading a paper. “ Dad, I need my car please, give me the key." Yomiel asked his dad.

Devon frowned at him.

"I'm not your dad and we're on work." Devon closed his eyes.

Yomiel rolled his eyes and grunted. Meanwhile, Reagan laughed in silence as he covered his face with the folder.

"It's just the three of us anyway. Come on, please." Yomiel begged as if he was a puppy asking for a treat to its master.

"Fine." Devon sighed as a picked up the car key on his drawer and tossed it on Yomiel.

Yomiel then caught it. "Thanks Dad. Let's go Reagan. Don't forget the folder." Yomiel ordered as he stood up.

"Yes boss." Reagan replied as they headed to the exit.

"Yomiel." Devon called.

"Yes, Sir?" Yomiel replied as Reagan opened the door.

"Stay safe." Devon said.

"We will." Yomiel replied to his father and smiled.

As they were about to go out of the room, a lady walked towards them.

"Good day sirs. Please do your best to solve and give justice to my brother and his friend's death. I could double the reward please; I just wasn't to bring the suspects to their rightful place. Please." The lady begged them. More like she only begged on Reagan.

Yomiel felt like he was invisible to the lady, probably because he looked like a ghost or a mannequin that follows Reagan.

"Yes Ma'am, we will do our best." Reagan replied.

"Wait, aren't you the one who lives at one of my condominium units?" The lady referred to Yomiel.

He was shocked he was actually noticed.

"Yes, I am Ma'am. Why do you ask?"

"I could make you live in there for free for lifetime, please." The lady offered. "And you too Sir." She then referred to Reagan.

"Ma'am, we'll just do our job. It's not about the reward." Yomiel said. And he walked together with Reagan towards the elevator.

"Fuck it." Yomiel cursed as he scratched his head.

"Why? Reagan asked.

"The car was on the condo. Damn it. My Dad's the best and the worst at the same time." Yomiel grunted.

Reagan laughed at him. "Damn, that's probably what your mom would say too. Like 'I love this man and I hate him at the same time'" Reagan told Yomiel as he patted his back.

"I don't know but I feel like that could also be a reason why my mother left but my dad said that she had to leave us to keep us safe. Well, she sends me gifts whenever it’s my birthday and also, I always write letters for her when I was a kid. My car was originally a gift from her." Yomiel told Reagan as the elevator door dinged and opened.

"You sound like your mom is a Mafia Boss or something." Reagan joked at him.

"You just read too much Sherlock Fanfiction." Yomiel told Reagan as they exited the building.

Yomiel then gave the car key to Reagan.

"Why were you giving this to me?" He asked as he tilted his head.

"You go and fetch my car. I'll gather information on the bar." Yomiel commanded.

"We'll both commute then, for now. Good luck." He said as they bumped each other's fists. Then they walked on the opposite direction.

Yomiel arrived at the funeral, more like Fyuneral where the bodies were currently at. And Fyuneral was named after the owner, Fyun Ikarumi.

He talked to the current guard, named Hasnor based on his name tag.

Hasnor then took him to where the bodies were.

He demanded privacy for investigation and the guard left. Hasnor meanwhile tried not to think anything stupid.

Yomiel looked at one of the bodies covered with white cloth, he the touched the head of the closest body to him. And he traveled back in time, five minutes before the person died.
