Stacey’s POV:

I went back home after the day's teaching drill to the scent of familiarity… Home.

Sighs.

I hadn’t even spent thirty minutes on the couch when the call from Tessa’s preschool teacher came in; “Ma’am, your attention is needed in school; something’s wrong with your daughter.”

“Oh my God! What's wrong with Tessa? I’m on my way.” I replied, picking up the car keys from where I abandoned them on the table and buckling the strap of my heels, racing to the door.

It’s times like this I wish I could strangle those sorry excuses of lovers for giving me an unhealthy child …sighs. But what could one do? Tessa was still my perfect little girl, and despite my mental rant and cursing of people that don’t even matter, I arrived at Tessa’s school.

Rushing in, I went to her class, and her teacher told me she was at the school clinic. Making a beeline to the clinic, I hurried my steps.

When I got to the clinic, I met Tessa gasping for air with tears streaming down her face, clawing at he

Stacey’s POV:Another boring-ass meeting. What did I do to deserve this? You chose this career. It comes with the job.I hated these meetings; it’s always something about not getting paid enough or us lecturers just happening to be doing something wrong. It’s always that, so might as well get it over with. The principal was a bit late, so we have been waiting for the past 20 min.I glanced at the clock again. Time hadn’t moved. How is that even possible? Maybe you slipped into some kind of purgatory.Just as I considered walking out and faking a migraine or just plain old sickness, the door finally swung open with the dramatic flair only Principal Clarke could manage. He’s so dramatic. His tie was slightly askew, his forehead glistening like he’d jogged from the car park. “Apologies for the delay,” he said, trying to sound breezy. “Bit of a hold-up this morning, am I right?” He got no reply, so he just continued. “Let’s get right into it, shall we?”I sighed and sat up, more out o

Noah’s POV:After the game, Dad decided to host a celebratory dinner, inviting Sophie’s parents and, yet again, Sophie.Come on, if you can thug through a whole game, then dinner won’t be so bad. Besides, what’s the worst that can happen? Everyone was gathered around the long oak dining table, plates full, glasses clinking, and all the fancy shit. The room was filled with laughter and chatter as people recounted highlights from the game.“Outstanding performance tonight, son,” Dad beamed, raising his glass. “You really carried the team when it actually mattered.”Even Sophie’s mom added in, her voice sugary sweet. “You were just fantastic, Noah. Such poise under pressure, congratulations .”Then, all eyes turned to Sophie’s dad. He sat firmly at the head of the table, fork paused mid-air. After a beat, he cleared his throat and said, “You’ve got potential, boy; I’ll give you that.”It wasn’t a complete compliment, but coming from him, it might as well have been a standing ovation.

Noah’s POV:The chirping of birds and the blinding sunlight from the bedroom window woke me up. I opened my eyes to see Stacy sleeping on my right-hand side, looking as beautiful as ever. I could stare at her all day. Right then, the events of yesterday came crawling back into my head, and I couldn’t believe I was there at the last minute.Imagine if you weren’t there… Let’s not even think about that.I slowly detangled myself from Stacey's embrace, careful not to wake her up. She had already been through so much, and she definitely needed rest. Stacey's body shook a bit as I got up. I made my way to the kitchen to moisten my dry throat. I reached for the glass in the middle cabinet and poured in water from the tap.As I drank, I rested my back on the counter, facing the sitting room, and then my eyes landed on the ticking clock. My eyes shot up as I realized that it was already noon. You both slept that long! You forgot you had something to do… Something to do?“Oh, fuck me!” I bl

Noah’s POV:After our little basketball “date”, came to an end, Stacey and I had to part ways. On my way home, I couldn’t stop thinking about Stacey. She truly was amazing…I love how she laughs, talks, and how she walks.I was still in my little headspace when my phone’s ringtone brought me back to reality. It was Sophie. She had been calling non stop these days. I decided not to pick her call yet.I went back home completely exhausted. I was staying at my parents house for the week instead of my place.“helloooo!!” I called. “Is anybody home?” The house was eerily quiet.Realizing no one was home, I went straight to my room, the lights were off and I was certain I left them on, “probably mum switched it off before going out”Turning on the light, a Picture of my parents was the first thing to welcome me. That picture was taken when I was little and that was the first time I played basketball in my school where I turned out to be the star of the show as usual. The memories reminded

Stacey’s POV:“Okay, any questions?” I asked the class one more time before it was time for break. The entire room was quiet, so I assumed there were no other questions.“Well, I guess that's it.” Just like clockwork, the bell rang and the class was dismissed.I glanced over at Noah’s desk. He's been absent for a few classes now. I wasn't really surprised; the big game was coming up, and he had been practicing day and night.I stepped out of the classroom, heading to my office, when a thought occurred. “Maybe just to see what he's up to?”No, you shouldn't. If he wanted to see you, he would have come over or, at the very least, called.I continued walking to my office, determined not to go and meet him, but that resolve didn't last long. “How about just a peek?”Oh! You fool.I arrived and peeked through the opening to see if anyone was in. I checked the seats and the coach’s seat, but it was completely and utterly empty.Okay, see, no one's there; you should just leave.I turned and
