Chapter Three
Vanessa’s POV
1 week later
I watched Eugene, Alena’s father, lie in his bed. His Blankets were pulled high, his frail body lost in the mass of covers. His eyes were closed, and he breathed like one with half a nose.
I swallowed.
Will he survive this? Oh, I pray he does. I have the money now. I have some money aside from the diamonds. That will be enough for his treatment. I mean, after what he had done for me, he deserves to live. He surely does. No one has ever made me feel wanted like Mr. Eugene after Dad’s passing. It was and still feels like I and Alena are sisters.
Staring at him trembled like a leaf broke something in me. Illness had reduced the tall man to this. This thought hardens my hate when I recall how I had robbed my ex-boyfriend.
“Nessa!” Alena screamed, and I roughly wiped my tears. And went to clean his room.
“Nessa, please can you get the door!”
I groaned and dropped the mop. She was closer to the door. Why do I have to be the one to go answer it? I marched downstairs and wiped my hands dry. It must be Alena’s too many packages. She just loves online shopping. If I had known what opening that door would mean, I would not have listened.
As soon as I opened the door, someone grabbed me and covered my head with a plastic bag.
“Let me go!” The plastic bag muffled my screams as I kicked and pushed. I was lifted, and I could feel the person moving. I was struggling to be free and also not to die of suffocation. As quickly as I was taken, the bag was also taken away from my head, and I was harshly dropped to the floor. The door was slammed shut. I turned frantically around. Where was I?
I was inside a car.
Then there was a pair of intimidating grays that made my heart sink. Goosebumps crept up my arms. My heart thundered as I stared into his eyes, and I could see a myriad of emotions, but three stood out to me. Anger. Desire. Vengeance. I swallowed.
“We meet again, Vanessa,” Kai said in a velvety deep voice, as he leaned back and watched me intently.

I breathed deeply as I looked around. There was nowhere I could escape. The windows were tinted, and nobody would hear me scream for help.
I slowly turned around and saw him staring at me. He had an amused yet intense, angry gaze. All the willpower to escape evaporated from me. He still had not said a word, and I was dying from the silence. I looked up to meet his intense gaze, and I flinched. He looked different, scarier.
“O-ope…. Open the door.” I mumbled. I tried to unlock the door and—
“Don’t,” came the cold reply. I quickly removed my hands like the door was some hot food. I slowly turned around.
“Wh… what do you want, Kai?” I said slowly. He looked at me with wide eyes. I raised an eyebrow. What was that look for?
He began to clap. “Nice… nice.” He smirked. “The audacity to ask me that after robbing me.”
I immediately looked at the floor. “Look at me,” and I did immediately.
Kai stared at me and then looked out through the window. “Why haven’t you enriched yourself, even after stealing from me?” I looked out at the little cottage I lived in. “Is it not enough?” he said. “Or…don’t tell me you gave all that money to your lover.”
I lifted my chin up. “That’s none of your business.”
Kai smirked. “You’ve not changed one bit. Always loving the men in your lives more than yourself”
“That’s nonsense. How would you know that?” I glared at him.
“You did it to me, “Kai said, and I felt like the ground should open and let me in; all the cringe worthy things I had done when I was head over heels in love with him flashed through my mind. “You worshiped me, Vanessa.”
And when I found my voice, I gave him the most daunting look I could muster. “You are disgusting.”
He shrugged casually with a smug smile on his face. “You didn’t think I was disgusting when you wanted nothing but to marry me.”
I looked away. Those were my stupid days. I know better now.
Suddenly, Kai leaned away and knocked softly on the glass. “Let’s go.”
I swiftly turned. “What? Where… where are you taking me?”
“Away from here,” he calmly said.
“What? You can't do that! I need to go home.” I jerked the handle of the door countless times, but it wouldn’t budge.
“Kai, don’t do this!” I screamed my lungs out. Hitting the glass and pushing the door harder. My sides were hurting from all that, but I didn’t care.
“If you scream one more time, Vanessa, I promise I’ll gag you,” he warned and began to go through his phone.
My life flashed before my eyes, and furious tears pressed at the back of my eyes.
Oh, Mr. Eugene. What will happen now that I am gone? How could Alena work one job to provide for her dad’s meds and also feed each other?
I put my hand against my mouth to stop the flood before it could break, but a tear slipped past my eyes. I quickly wiped it. Kai didn’t deserve my tears. I slowly turned to him.
“Where are you taking me?”
His gaze grew sharp. “Back to the red moon pack princess.”
“What! You can’t do that!” My voice broke. I can’t go to the werewolf side now. I have debts to pay. No one would accept me. Tears fell from my eyes freely, and this time I didn’t do anything to stop them.
“I beg you, please. I can’t leave,” I cried. “I will do anything, please don’t take me back. People need me—“
“I did warn you,” Kai said, his voice mild against the fire in his gaze.
I turned to my side of the window and wept bitterly.
Chapter FiveVanessa’s POV Kai moved me to a penthouse, and then he locked me in. I banged on the door till my palm began to bleed. Nobody heard me. No one helped me.The flight back home took more than ten hours. Though I had travelled with Kai in a private jet, I was exhausted by the time we arrived. I hadn’t slept well since the night Kai took me from the house. The next time I opened my eyes, I didn’t need to be told. I was back home. At the pack. The landscape and the heightened senses. It was a house stinking of affluence. Maids and guards and all that royalty. I didn’t want to know how he got the money. All I wanted was to go home. Tears flooded my eyes, and I lay on the bed and began to cry. It hurt so much that my tears did nothing, but that was all I could do.Later that night, there was a knock on the door. I didn’t make a move to open it. They can break it if they want.“Open up, Miss Vanessa, you have to eat something or you will die!” a voice yelled from outside the d
Chapter FourVanessa’s POV I jerked awake. I looked around me. Where was I?“See anything familiar?” I swiftly turned around to find a figure standing in front of a window in the dark. I was on the verge of asking the question ‘who are you?’ when he turned. It was Kai.Kai Vega. And immediately, everything began to flood in.“Where have you brought me?”Kai walked away from the window and came towards me. I backed away further to the end of the bed on the bed.“What are you doing? Stay back! Don’t come any closer,” I yelled.Kai smirked, “I don’t bite Vanessa…yet.” There was a wicked gleam in his eyes. I looked around me, and there was a shoe.“If you come any closer, I’ll throw this on you,” I warned. He chuckled. “I’ll love to see you try, Nessa.”“Stop toying with me, Kai. And don’t call me Nessa.”His gaze grew darker. “I thought you liked it.”That was his pet name for me while we dated. I had asked him to call me that.I looked around the room for any means to escape. It was

Chapter TwoVanessa’s POV“Shit” I hissed. Damn that glass. Now I have to announce my presence. I crawled to the back of the door and immediately flipped the light on. Heavy footsteps shook the ground, and I needed no telling who it was. I pulled the gun to the back of his head.“Move,” he froze.Seconds passed before he said another word. “Excuse me,” he slowly turned to face me, and for the one millionth time, I was happy Alena suggested I wear a thick mask. He watched me from head to toe. Accessing me, but no matter how intimidating he looked, my hold on the gun never wavered.Kai Vega stood in front of me. Tall. Broad shoulders. As handsome as ever in a white shirt and black pants. His sleeves were rolled to his arms, just the way I loved them. Men! His very dark hair. His intimidating gray eyes. His slightly pouty lips. Kai had the kind of beauty that made women want to do his will, even without saying a word. Even I was not the exception. Memories flashed through my mind: h
Chapter OneKai's POV“What’s that supposed to mean?” I glared at the elders. The council Chambers was gravely quiet. None of them could look me in the eye, but I was baffled that they could plot behind my back. They even had the guts to utter such words in my presence.I paced the length of the room. Ever since I became Alpha, these elders have been on my neck. Problems after problems have been arising. The things I have had to endure to keep my throne.Suddenly, an old elder cleared his throat. He looked up, his chin tipped up in defiance."An alpha without a strong bloodline is an alpha on borrowed time," the old man said, his voice like gravel. "If you want to keep your title, bring us a mate. “The other elders murmured in agreement. This must be a jokeI haven't ruled for two years, and they are already requesting a mate.I inhaled slowly, suppressing the growl rising in my throat. I first went to take a seat in my chair, at the head of the long Mahogany table. As I stared at e
