Chapter 6

Stephanie had decided to keep the pregnancy, she decided to inform her best friend Elsie.

She took out her phone and dial Elsie’s number.

“Hello,Steph, what’s up?”

“Elsie, where are you?”

“I’m at home.”

“I’m coming to meet you.”

After speaking Stephanie hung up the phone, dressed up and went to Elsie’s house.

“I’m keeping the baby,” Stephanie announced as she got to Elsie’s room.

Elsie who had already known she wouldn’t abort her child wasn’t that surprised. “What of your father, have you told him ?” She asked.

Stephanie paused. “No I haven’t, you are the only one who knows about this, but I will find a way to tell him..”

“What if your father asked you to abort this pregnancy,” Elsie asked looking concerned.

Stephanie paused for a moment and instinctively placed her hands on her slightly bulging belly. “What if her father ask her to get rid of this baby, what will she do? Is not that Stephanie hadn’t thought of this, she just couldn’t dare to . After all the people involved are her cousin sister and her brother in law. Although Stephanie’s father always respected her wish, but this time around it’s different.

How can she abort her own child? Even though keeping this pregnancy, might lead to future troubles , but she is avoiding the thought of the worst case scenarios.

“No this is an innocent life, I can’t let him have the hope of coming into this world, only to be cruelly erased.”

“No matter what, I’m not getting rid of this pregnancy, I will do everything in my power to protect my child, even if my father wants me to get rid of it against my will, then I will have to disobey him,” Stephanie said seriously.

Seeing her determined demeanor, a smile played on Elsie’s lips .

This is the Stephanie she knew.

Although this child has caused her to loose her innocence and reputation. She was ready to go to great lengths for the child, even if it means going against her own father.

“Stephanie, I might not be good with words, but no matter what happens, I’ll always stand by you and support you unconditionally, as long as there is something I can do to help, I will do everything in my power to assist you,” Elsie said sincerely.

Stephanie could clearly see the sincerity in the woman’s eyes, she was moved, feeling a warm currently rising in her heart, her eyes were filled with gratitude as she stared at Elsie.

“Elsie,, is so good to have met you, I’m lucky to have someone like you in my life.

Having a friend who stands by you even when the whole world is against you is a blessing.

Stephanie couldn’t help but recall the first time she met Elsie , it was fifteen years ago, she relocated to the countryside with her father after the death of her mother.

One day, little Stephanie was coming back from playing , suddenly she collided with a little girl about the same age as her . The little girl immediately grabbed her hand, and pleaded in a tearful voice . “Sister, can you take me home? I was kidnapped, our car was attacked and I happened to escape, but I can’t find my way home.

Little Stephanie looked at the little girl’s tear streaked face and asked her, “where is your home ?”

The little girl told her.

Little Stephanie who was more matured than kids of her age could tell that the little girls home was far from the countryside, so she decided to take her home, on their way home, Stephanie learnt that the little girl whose name is Elsie is the little princess of the foster family.

The foster family ranked third among the prominent families in the capital.

When the got home, they saw on the news that the Foster family had been looking for their only child for the past two days.

The next day, Stephanie’s father contacted Elsie’s parents , and they came to take their daughter home.

Over the years, Stephanie and Elsie’s bond has grown stronger, they are more like sisters now…

“Step, Stephanie,” Elsie called out to Stephanie when she saw her lost in thought.

Stephanie snapped back to reality, and smiled at her. “What’s up?”

“I should be asking you that “, Elsie shot back.. “what were you thinking? You have been in a daze for a while now, and didn’t even hear me when I called you.”

Stephanie took a deep breath, and said. “Nothing, just thinking about when we first met.”

Hearing this Elsie’s lips curled Into a slight smile, “it has been fifteen years now, how time flies!”

“Yh,” Stephanie nodded.

Putting on a serious face she gaze at Elsie. “Elsie, there is something i also want to tell you…
