CHAPTER ONE.
Caught Red Handed
Katherine's POV
I bade my colleagues goodbye as I stood in front of the company. The rain was threatening to fall so I went back into the company to check if my umbrella was there.
I realized I didn’t take it along, that's one of my silly sides. How could I have forgotten? I sighed, I think I had to leave without the umbrella.
I walked back out, but the rain had already started, which made me sigh more, but I wasn’t going to let it spoil my mood.
It was getting late, and the rain was pouring hard, but I was determined to get to where I was going before the night came. I've been waiting for this opportunity for three weeks
The cab I took parked in front of his house, and I got out in a hurry to see him. It was hard getting one because of the rain, so I had walked half the road before getting a ride.
I wasn’t bothered because I knew I would be able to change into his pajamas when I got there. I decided to surprise my boyfriend knowing he’ll be back by now.
I didn't bother to knock when I walked into the house of my boyfriend, Felix. I have a spare key to his house, so I opened it and came in, locking the door back from inside.
He was finally back from the business trip his company sent him on and I wanted to be the first person to welcome him back home. I was so happy that I was excited and nervous at the same time.
I couldn't wait to hold him again, to hug him and most of all to have him inside me. I've missed him so much that I can't even explain how I feel.
He left without seeing me because I was busy at work, too. I didn’t mean to, but he also got the announcement about the trip late.
I entered the living room, hoping to surprise him with a box of chocolates I bought from the supermarket on my way here. I expected to meet him immediately but I didn't.
He wasn't in the sitting room. He’s probably in the kitchen.
I went to the kitchen to check if he was there because he really loved to cook and he might be cooking his dinner.
When I got to the kitchen, he still wasn't there.
“Maybe he was resting in his room then.” I thought. I left the kitchen immediately because I was too excited to stay there for long. All I wanted right now was to see him.
As I got closer to the room, I saw that the door was left open. It was opened halfway. I was thinking that maybe he had just gone inside, which was why his door was left open.
But why would he open his door? I remember that no matter how tired he was, he wouldn’t open his door halfway because he hated having his privacy invaded.
I’ll surely tease him when I get to him and see him asleep. I chucked to myself silently. I walked faster, trying to get to his room. The mansion was big, but not so big.
I was hearing some noises coming from his room, but I didn't know what it was, so I pushed his room door so that I could enter, and I was extremely shocked by what I saw.
On top of the bed, I saw two people, they were familiar, but I didn’t want to admit it. Felix and Diana. I closed my eyes again trying to process what I had just seen.
They didn’t hear me enter because they were too engrossed in what they were doing.
I stood for a moment to see if I was mistaken, and maybe I was still in the Uber, making some imaginations in my head.
Felix’s back was facing me, and his hands were resting comfortably on Diana’s two breasts. He was playing with her nipples. He was sucking on them while she was moaning.
She was lying down on the bed, and they were both moaning loudly as he was fucking her, he pulled her closer.
“Harder,” Diana moaned out loudly.
“Faster, baby,” She said again.
Her moaning was loud as if she didn't care that she was having sex with my own boyfriend. They became louder and louder and I couldn't take it anymore
The world around me started to turn around. I couldn't believe what I just saw. My head was spinning. I couldn't stand properly so I had to rest on the door that was behind me.
As I stepped back, I almost fell down because of Diana’s heels on the floor, and dropped the chocolates that I was holding.
The sound made Felix stop what he was doing immediately and he looked back to see me
He was so shocked, he separated himself from Diana while she covered herself up with the duvet on the bed. She rolled her eyes.
Felix got up from the bed immediately and came to where I was standing. He was still naked and his shaft was still hard and dangling between his legs when he walked up to me.
“You guys, you guys…”
He couldn't even be decent enough to cover up his naked body.
“Katherine…” he stammered, "This is not what it looks like.
Diana's POVI sat in my apartment with my phone pressed to my ear and my heart hammering against my ribs. Felix paced nervously behind me, his footsteps wearing a path in the carpet. I had been watching the news coverage of Dave's accident and Katherine's sudden rise to billionaire wife with growing rage that threatened to consume me whole. My adopted sister somehow landed on her feet again just like she always does. But not this time. This time I had ammunition."What kind of information?" Penelope's voice came through sharp with interest.I smiled, savoring the moment before I dropped my bomb. "The kind that proves Katherine is not the innocent victim everyone thinks she is."Felix stopped pacing. He turned to look at me with worry etched across his face. "Diana, are you sure about this?"I waved him off impatiently without even looking at him. I was tired of Felix's constant second guessing. Ever since Dave entered Katherine's life, Felix had been having doubts about our plan. It w
Penelope's POVI sat in my car outside the hospital, engine off, windows cracked just enough to let the cool evening air in. My eyes stayed fixed on the building where Dave lay recovering and where that little nobody thought she had won something. The text I just sent to Katherine was only the beginning. It was time to remind her exactly who she was dealing with.I pulled out a cigarette and lit it slowly, taking a long drag. The smoke filled my lungs and I held it there for a moment before exhaling. My phone sat in my lap, screen glowing with photos I had been collecting for weeks. Pictures of Dave and Katherine at various locations. Timestamps showed I had been following them everywhere. Their favorite coffee shop. The restaurant where they had dinner last Tuesday. The park where Katherine liked to walk in the mornings.I had everything documented. Their routines, their vulnerabilities, their moments of weakness. Every single detail is cataloged and ready to use.Liam had been slopp
Katherine's POVThe hospital room became deathly silent after Liam's words. My heart stopped beating. My lungs stopped working. My mind struggled to process what I had just heard. He admitted it. He actually admitted to trying to kill me. He stood there in that hospital room and confessed to attempted murder like he was discussing what he had for breakfast.Dave exploded.Despite his injuries, despite the pain, despite everything, he tried to lunge from that bed. "YOU BASTARD!" The sound that came from him was pure animal rage, something primal and terrifying. The heart monitor went absolutely crazy. Alarms blared from every direction. I threw myself at Dave, using my full weight to hold him back. "Dave, stop! You will hurt yourself!"But he was beyond reason. His eyes were murderous as he strained against my hold and his own weakness. His face went red with effort and fury. "I am going to kill you," he snarled at Liam with such venom that I barely recognized him. "I am going to destr
Katherine's POVMy entire body went rigid the second Liam walked into that hospital room. He strolled in like he owned the place, carrying those flowers with that easy smile plastered across his face. A smile that now looked absolutely sinister knowing what I knew. Every instinct in my body screamed danger. I moved without thinking, positioning myself between him and Dave's bed like a human shield. The heart monitor erupted into frantic beeping. I glanced back and saw Dave's face contort with pure rage despite how weak he still was."Get out." Dave's voice came out like ice. Each word was clipped and dangerous in a way I had never heard before.Liam's smile did not falter. He set the flowers down on the side table with deliberate slowness, taking his time like he had every right to be there. "That is no way to greet your best friend who has been worried sick about you."His dark eyes slid to me. My stomach turned violently at the fake concern painted across his features."Katherine, y
Dave's POVPain radiated through every inch of Dave's body, but the rage burning in his chest was stronger than any physical agony. He watched Katherine's face drain of all color at his words. Her hand trembled in his. He should not be telling her this now. The doctor had ordered rest. He should play the obedient patient and keep his mouth shut. But the memory of that chandelier falling, of nearly losing her, made his blood boil hot enough to override every rational thought."Who?" Katherine demanded. Her voice shook but held firm. "Dave, who tried to kill me?"He hesitated. Once he told her, there was no going back. She would be pulled deeper into the darkness surrounding his family, into secrets he had kept buried for years. She would see the ugliness beneath the Winter name, the rot at the core of everything he came from."Dave." Her eyes burned into his, fear and determination mixing together. "Tell me."He had spent his whole life protecting people by keeping them at a distance.
Katherine's POV The moment Dave whispered my name, the entire hospital room erupted into chaos.Penelope gasped as someone had punched her. Aunt Vivian clutched her chest and nearly stumbled backward. The other relatives rushed toward the bed in a stampede of expensive shoes and designer perfume. But I was faster. My legs moved before my brain caught up, and suddenly I was at his side, gripping his hand like it was the only thing keeping me tethered to earth.Dave's eyelids fluttered. His blue eyes cracked open slowly, unfocused and glazed with pain. They swept across the room, taking in the chaos, the faces, the noise. Then they found me.Everything else disappeared.A weak smile tugged at his pale lips. "You're safe."The tears came hard and fast. I tried to speak but my throat closed up completely. All I could do was nod like an idiot while my vision blurred."You're such an idiot," I finally choked out. "You absolute idiot."His smile widened just a fraction. I saw recognition fl
Chapter 8Uncertainty Katherine's POV “Katherine… would you actually consider marrying me?”The moment I heard that from him, my breath completely hitched. As I stood there, thinking of what he just said to me, Dave's eyes never left me. They remained glued on me, like I would disappear if he as
Chapter 7Dave's POV I almost laughed at her foolishness. Rented? But before I could reply her, the front door opened, and five men in black suits walked in. At that point, Katherine's family stood upright, with their eyes almost bulging out in shock. One of my guards came closer and bowed slight
Chapter 6 Unexpected Rescue Dave's POV "You should understand that this is a free meal, which everyone would gladly take," Katherine's adoptive father said, with no shame at all. "You can't truly reject...""Oh, I think you failed to comprehend something here."The very moment I cut in before he
Chapter 9The Billionaire's Mansion Katherine's POV Then suddenly.... someone spoke, interrupting the beautiful moment. “You don’t have to marry me.”I opened my eyes immediately to be sure I know where the voice was coming from. Dave was staring outside the tinted window, not looking at me. He
