“I don’t understand why the hell I’m the one being arrested!” Gerald shouted. “I’m the victim here! Look at my face! Look at what she did to me!”

“Call my lawyer!” Sarah screeched, holding her head. “This isn’t fair! That crazy bitch pulled my hair out, I’m going to go bald!”

“Ow! Ow!” the old woman wailed dramatically. “My back! I’m an elderly woman! Why are you handling me like this? She hit me! That’s a crime!”

Karen burst into loud sobs. “Please call my husband! Tell him to come get me!

  • AFTER REBIRTH, I BECAME UNTOUCHABLE   CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE— A Startling Discovery

We were led out of the Admissions Building and across the campus toward another building that somehow looked even more impressive than the last. By that point, Anna looked like she was on the verge of breaking down. Her entire face was red and she kept biting her lower lip so hard I was worried she would draw blood. One of her hand held mine tightly as if it was the only thing keeping her grounded. Every few steps I glanced at her, genuinely afraid that if I let go for even a second she might collapse right there on the pathway. Billy walked beside us, also unusually quiet. The excitement over getting into Class C had completely disappeared. He stayed close to his sister, occasionally glancing at her but saying nothing. He hadn’t even mentioned ice cream again, which was honestly more alarming than anything else. When we finally reached the office, the staff member stopped in front of a large wooden door, knocked twice, and waited. A voice called from inside. “Come in.” The

“Her name is Trinity Beaumont,” a voice said beside me. “The founding mother of narcissism and self-importance at Evercrest Academy.” I turned my head to find a woman settling into the empty chair beside mine. She looked a little younger than me, with short cropped hair and the kind of bright smile that suggested she enjoyed gossip far more than she probably should. She nodded toward the crowd gathered around Trinity’s table. “If your children end up attending here, you’re going to be seeing that woman for a while.” I followed her gaze as Trinity exchanged a handshake with another parent. The woman beside me snorted. “My son used to be classmates with one of her boys. Do you know how many PTA meetings that woman turned into a political campaign rally?” She shook her head. “Everything somehow became about her children, her husband and her opinions. It was exhausting.” A laugh slipped from her lips as she shook her head. “The funny part is nobody ever tells her to stop because e

  • AFTER REBIRTH, I BECAME UNTOUCHABLE   CHAPTER SIXTY THREE— Competition Among Elites

We were ushered back to the waiting area where Billy, Anna, and I sat in silence for what felt like an eternity. The room was filled with other parents and children waiting for their own assessments, but none of us paid much attention to them. I was busy replying to messages from Rebecca and Sam about work when Billy suddenly spoke. “Mom… maybe we shouldn’t go to this school.” I looked up from my phone and immediately frowned as I met his eyes. His entire playful countenance was gone, as his face had gone so pale he looked like he was about to be sick. “Billy, are you okay?” Billy lowered his head and stared at his shoes. “Mom, I don’t want to take the examination.” “Why?” “If I fail, it’ll embarrass you.” The words caught me off guard. Billy bit his lower lip so hard it turned white, his eyes growing watery as he struggled not to cry. Seeing him like that made something twist painfully inside my chest. “The woman was right,” he continued quietly. “I’m really not that smart

  • AFTER REBIRTH, I BECAME UNTOUCHABLE   CHAPTER SIXTY TWO— First Day Of School

The next day everyone woke up bright and early for the big day. Excitement filled the air, making the entire morning feel busy from the moment we got out of bed. To make sure nobody was late, I had delegated tasks the night before, so everyone already knew what they were supposed to do. I focused on getting Gracie ready since it was a big day for her too as she would be starting daycare. After helping her get dressed and making sure she looked adorable, I fed her breakfast before moving on to making food for everyone else. While I cooked, Rebecca handled the lunches. We had bought new lunch boxes for the children and she carefully packed them with snacks, fruit slices, and juice boxes, making sure every school bag was properly prepared and accounted for. Mary helped Billy get dressed. Since they did not have their school uniforms yet, he wore a neat button-down shirt with shorts, clean socks, and polished shoes. Bianca helped Anna get ready, styling her hair into two cute bows t

  • AFTER REBIRTH, I BECAME UNTOUCHABLE   CHAPTER SIXTY ONE— Going Viral

After the shoot, the photographer, Rebecca and I spent the rest of the day editing pictures and posting them online. We officially launched the company website and uploaded every available item onto the & Co platform. By the time the photographer finally left, it was already close to midnight. Even then, I stayed behind in the office doing last minute checks, making sure everything was exactly the way I wanted it. Everyone else had gone to bed hours ago. I became so engrossed in my work that I didn’t even realize when I fell asleep at my desk, my phone pressed against the side of my face. It was around three in the morning when my body suddenly jerked awake. Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzz. The phone kept vibrating nonstop against my cheek. I groaned and sat up, rubbing my eyes tiredly. For a moment I thought about tossing the phone aside and dragging myself to bed but as I moved it onto the desk, my thumb accidentally brushed against the screen. The phone lit up and my sleepy eyes

  • AFTER REBIRTH, I BECAME UNTOUCHABLE   CHAPTER SIXTY— The Bright Idea

I almost wanted to pinch myself for not thinking of it earlier. There was no need to spend so much money hiring models when Billy and Anna were right there. The only thing I would ever give Patricia Allen credit for was that, despite being a terrible person, she somehow created the most adorable children ever. Anna was cute with big doe eyes and smooth skin that made her look like the kind of child people instantly wanted to protect. Billy had this playful boyish charm that made you want to spoil him rotten the second he smiled. And Gracie? She was honestly the cutest baby in the entire world. They were more than perfect for the children’s line and because of them, I suddenly had an even better idea for how to launch Phynix. Billy blinked in confusion while Anna raised an eyebrow at me suspiciously. Then suddenly Billy gasped loudly and pointed at himself. “Me? A model?” His eyes widened. “Like… the people on billboards?!” “Yes,” I nodded seriously. “The ones that we
