Dominic closed the door with a soft click.

The sound seemed loud in the sudden quiet of the room. He turned back to where Lyra stood, her cheeks flushed, her eyes wide and dark with wanting. She looked beautiful and nervous and brave all at once.

He crossed the space between them slowly, giving her time to change her mind. Giving them both time to breathe.

  • ALPHA KING DOMINIC'S DARKEST CLAIM   CHAPTER 56 – WHAT SHE WON’T SAY

Lyra woke to the warmth of Dominic's arms around her, his chest rising and falling in steady rhythm against her back. Morning light filtered through the heavy curtains, casting the royal bedroom in soft gold. She turned in his embrace, looking up at his face in the quiet light."Good morning, secret boyfriend," she teased.Dominic's eyes opened, a slow smile spreading across his features. He leaned down and kissed her softly, lingering."I can't believe it's already been six months," he murmured against her lips. "And you're still keeping me a secret."He shook his head, amusement dancing in his dark eyes."So many girls in the kingdom would proudly tell everyone they're dating the king. Yet somehow, you're the only person weird enough to want nobody to know."Lyra laughed, the sound bright in the stillness of morning."I like it this way. Once everyone finds out, they'll make such a fuss." She grinned, mischief lighting her face. "Besides... sneaking around is kind of exciting."She

  • ALPHA KING DOMINIC'S DARKEST CLAIM   CHAPTER 55 – THE DEAL CHANGED

Caelan had driven his old jeep as far as the old logging road would allow, tires crunching over gravel and fallen branches, until the path simply ended. Swallowed by forest. Then they'd walked.Nearly five miles through woods that grew denser with every step, Vivienne's boots sinking into soft earth that smelled of decay and renewal. Her breath came in white clouds in the cold night air, and her thighs burned from climbing over fallen logs and navigating slopes slick with moss. Now they stood in a clearing no larger than a living room, surrounded by trees that seemed to lean in and listen. The coordinates had led them here, to the middle of nowhere, deep in the neutral territories where no pack held claim. The kind of place where people came to conduct business they didn't want witnessed. They had been waiting nearly an hour now with no sign of anybody else coming.Vivienne wrapped her arms around herself, but the chill had settled into her bones long ago. Beside her, Caelan shifted

  • ALPHA KING DOMINIC'S DARKEST CLAIM   CHAPTER 54 – THE OBSESSION

Caelan woke to cold sheets beside him - again. He lay still for a moment, staring at the ceiling of his room in the pack house, listening to the silence where Vivienne's breathing should have been. This had become their pattern. She would slip into his bed after midnight long after everyone else had gone to bed. Then he would wake alone. It had been months now. Ever since Vivienne returned from the capital, she'd grown distant in ways he couldn't name. He dressed quickly and made his way downstairs, his wolf restless and uneasy. The pack house was quiet this early, most of the pack still sleeping off the Moon Harvest Festival celebrations. The basement computer room hummed with the sound of cooling fans and electricity. Vivienne sat alone at a terminal, her face bathed in the blue glow of multiple screens, fingers flying across the keyboard. She didn't turn when he entered. "You're awake," she said.Caelan crossed the room and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Her skin was warm, but

Cassandra settled into her chair at the dining table and looked around the empty room.Again.She sighed, picking up her napkin. The late afternoon sun slanted through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the polished floor. The palace always felt too quiet when she dined alone.A servant appeared at her elbow, pouring wine with practiced efficiency.Cassandra paused, her glass halfway to her lips. "Has Lyra not come down since morning?"The servant exchanged a glance with another staff member near the sideboard. "No, my lady. She never came for breakfast. No one has seen her since last night's Moon Festival in the woods."Cassandra set her glass down with a sharp click.

Giving them both time to breathe. When he reached her, he took her hands in his. Her fingers were trembling."Are you sure about this?" His voice was rough, strained with the effort of holding back. "I don't want to rush you. We can stop. We can slow down. Just tell me…""I'm sure." The words came out as a whisper, but there was no hesitation in them.Lyr

  • ALPHA KING DOMINIC'S DARKEST CLAIM   CHAPTER 51 - THE CONFESSION

Lyra sat on the edge of her bed, arms wrapped around her middle. Her stomach growled loud enough to echo in the quiet room. She ignored it.Breakfast had started an hour ago, and the dining hall would be full of people by now. Full of him. She couldn't face that. Not after last night. Not after she'd fled from the woods like a coward, leaving Dominic standing alone beneath the moonlight. She'd gone straight back to the palace. Bypassed the festival entirely. Locked herself in her room and pretended the world didn't exist. That had been hours ago.A small, foolish voice at the back of her mind had whispered that he might follow. That he might knock on her door and demand to talk to her. That he might apologize, or explain, or say something, anything, that would make the ache in her chest disappear. He hadn't come. She pressed her palm against her chest, trying to soothe the hollow pain there."Stupid," she muttered to herself. "So stupid."Why would he follow her? Why would he apologiz

  • ALPHA KING DOMINIC'S DARKEST CLAIM   CHAPTER 5 - THE KING’S CLAIM

Dominic had always hated the pageantry that came with his title, but the Ashbourne pack’s attempt to impress him was especially suffocating. Even the guards at the entrance stood a little too stiffly, their eyes skittering past his face as they bowed and ushered him inside. He imagined they half-e

Alpha King Dominic woke with a smile on his face. For the first few seconds, he simply lay there, staring up at the canopy above him.
